QUESTION: What Attracts You To A Kit?

I am drawn to kits that look as realistic as possible, even when they are blank. Most kits, to me, look very ‘doll’ and that’s no fun to me…I like the extra details that bring the kit to life. The most realistic kit I own is Bonnie Brown’s Twin B and that kind of set a new precedent for me, so now I’m super picky. So far I’ve mostly done sleeping kits cuz I can’t seem to master making open eyed kits look real. Maybe I’m buying the wrong eyes, IDK. I don’t have a limb preference or a size preference, but it’s fun for me to have a variety of small, medium and large babies. I DO wish there were more realistic chubby babies larger than newborn size. I just ordered Cassie Brace’s Evelyn and can’t wait to see her in person!

I like happy relaxed babies. I think that those with strong expressions become too much looking at them for a long time. I do like the idea of full limbs for the clothing options, but they are much harder to pose, and are not as cuddly as the 3/4. As far as making bodies, I hate the full limbs. Actually, if a kit has full limbs I only get it if it comes with nicely made body, although I have about 5m of the fabric still in my cupboard.

My petty hate is when kits are advertised as with custom made body, and I then have to take them apart and fix them. When somebody has bodies specially made for particular kit, why on earth are the holes 2x as big as the flanges? GRRRRRR
Beautifully fitting bodies is one of the reasons why I buy several of each Gudrun Legler’s kits.
