Question about painting ethnic vinyl

Hi there everyone! I saw this cute kit at Macpherson’s and she’s Olivia by Ross Johnson. They have her in a light vinyl and they have her in an ethnic vinyl. Here’s the link: Olivia by Ross Johnson ~ Ethnic Vinyl

My question is since the vinyl is already an ethnic color, do you just do detailing like blushing and mottling, lips, nails etc? I have wondered this about other ethnic and biracial colored vinyls. I normally paint the neutral or lighter vinyls.

I still paint the ethnic vinyl the same way as I would the lighter vinyl, just maybe not as many layers of the ethnic flesh layers. It makes a world of difference!

You’d still need some skin layers to create depth. Darker skin tones aren’t all one color. You’d also need to lighten the palms and soles. But the upside is that you need a lot less layers to build up the color.
