Putting partial silicone kits together

When putting partial silicone kits together, do you cut any of the thick flange off? To make it less heavy. Also, do you have to use the rings in order for the limbs n head to move. I have several bb silicone kits, 2 trial size silicone paint sets n 3 practice faces. I wanna try silicone painting. But, was wondering about putting them together.

Imo, you absolutely need the rings!

I think the thickness is due to needing stability so it doesnt squish and come out of the rings. I was also told rings are very much needed. And I think smaller than you think you need?

Thanks. I have some rings. When I leaned about using the Alene’s glue on the vinyl, I quit using them. I’m glad I saves them.
