Preventing rough texture on the skin?

I posed this question earlier as part of another question I asked. I see there are also some newbies like me that are having issues. So, how do you prevent your reborn from having a rough texture after the final matte layer. What are your tips or your secrets??? I was going to do 50/50 matte varnish/thinner. I see some people are suggestion satin mixed with matte. What kind of ratios are you doing?

My final matte layer is 9 parts Genesis matte varnish to 11 parts thinner. I love the way it feels, it’s not rough, but has a realistic texture, and it’s nicely matte with no shine.

I will say that there is different ways to do it. I know lots of people do the half satin half matte. I experimented on test parts until I found what I liked.

I know I am sound as a broken record or like I have a stock in Americana Soft Touch varnish, but the best touching feel, IMO, come from @anjsmiles recipe.

I like it too and find it easier to do myself.

Yes, so much easier than GHSP varnish and no 3 times baking!

I finally ordered some of that. It should be here Thursday. I like the idea of not having to bake 3 times.

Today is the first day I haven’t painted, wanted to do this part right…thanks for all the help.

You can use the Americana air dry over GHSP. I have been doing that for several months avoiding those last bakes for varnish.

I think an important piece is to make sure you pounce and pounce. I put a little bit on my sponge and pounce it rather thin. It helps keep it a bit smoother.

I agree with the pouncing. I use a paint brush to put my mix on, then pounce it with a sponge. It gives it a very realistic looking skin texture.

You will absolutely love it. Don’t forget to get distilled water and corn starch.

I have been getting PMs so here it is again.
