How do you prep your babies for Prisma hair? I have never had a problem with it, but this particular baby just doesn’t want to take the pencil. I am doing everything the same way that I always do. Also, how do you blend yours without it getting muddy? Thanks!
matte varnish
That’s what I’ve been using! Uggh, not sure what is wrong with this head.
Maybe bake it a couple more times…then it may work…!!..
Thanks! I will give it a try!
It might be the matte varnish… Mine was just not working. I just ordered the super matte varnish from dolls so real… To see if it works any better!
My last head had spots that wouldn’t draw… then I varnished and baked again then went back over it and still wouldn’t work. I ended up trying a different prisma pencil and it worked great… so for me it was my pencil… ???
Satin & Matte Combo Mix. Sometimes you have to varnish twice.
I use satin and it works great. Also, I never blend my pencil. I don’t care for the muddly look blended pencil gets. I work my prisma in layers of individual hairs. More hair layers in areas causes shadow and less make lighter sections. People have different techniques though so I’m not saying don’t blend. I just prefer the character of unblended pencil.
I found a faber-castell Aquarelle pencil at hobby lobby, found it next to prisma pencils. you have to wet it and it goes on real easy with no varnish–im using baby fx. And when it dries it does not come off. However, I am new at this and not sure what it’s made of. But it goes on real easy.
I know what pencils you;re talking about. I love those. I’ve never used it for hair, but I used to have soooo much trouble with veining that I turned to the pencil and it worked great. I’ve since found something even better, but if I were no longer able to get the veining marker I’d definitely use the pencil again. I do’;t know what they’re made of either but once they’re on they’re on that’s for sure. I use on Geensis paints and it worked great on that too.
As far are prepping for prisma. I’ve never had a problem, but maybe it’s because my babies have a texture that the pencil can grab onto.
