Post covid vinyl issues

Had anyone had issues of vinyl seepage from post covid bb kits, or any other sculpts made in the covid era

Seepage of what?

I looked it up and found this: Vinyl seepage on reborn doll kits refers to an oily, greasy, or sticky residue that leaches or “seeps” out of the vinyl material over time. Reborn doll enthusiasts commonly call this oily vinyl, sticky vinyl, or plasticizer seepage (sometimes loosely referred to as “seepage”).

Oils from the vinyl

Have you ever seen this before with the post covid vinyl that had issues?

I have seen it before and after covid times. I get some kits that have very shiny and oily limbs that does not wash off. I have to add a sealer to get the paint to adhere correctly.

Have you ever noticed a sticky substance leeking from them?

what is vinyl seepage on reborn doll kitsVinyl seepage on reborn doll kits refers to an oily, greasy, or sticky residue that leaches or “seeps” out of the vinyl material over time. Reborn doll enthusiasts commonly call this oily vinyl, sticky vinyl, or plasticizer seepage (sometimes loosely referred to as “seepage”).
What Causes It?
Vinyl (PVC) used in reborn doll kits contains plasticizers — chemicals added during manufacturing to make the material soft and flexible. Over time, especially with heat, age, certain paints/coatings, or even the kit’s own production (like excess release agents), these plasticizers can migrate to the surface. This creates a shiny, oily, or tacky feel on the doll parts (limbs, head, etc.).
Common triggers include:

Natural aging or chemistry of the vinyl itself (it happens with many vinyl dolls, not just reborn kits).
Excess release agents used in the mold during kit production.
Heating the vinyl during painting (heat-set paints) or other processes, which can cause plasticizers to move.
Interaction with certain reborn paints, primers, or sealers.
