Piercing reborn ears

Please can anyone tell me how to peirce a reborn dolls ears? I have couple of dolls i want to give to friends for Christmas and I am unsure how to do it, any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

I use a rooting needle to do the hole while the vinyl is warm, and then I use stud earrings with surgical steel posts that I find at Walmart. The posts seem strong enough to push through the vinyl while it is warm.

I wondered as well, thanks!

Do you glue them in, or leave it so the people that have the dolls to change out if they wish?

I’ve never glued them. They seem to hold pretty well in the hole when the vinyl cools. The vinyl shrinks around the post.

I assume just left in. I have two dolls with pierced ears and I can change them at will. They stay in really well.

Oh okay. Thank you, I will give it a try

Thank you for posting this. I was wondering as well

I just pushed through without warming anything. I love the dolls that can have the little plastic backs put on their ears. So cute!

None of mine actually have backs. In ever, I think the earrings go inside the head. I don’t think she has much of a lobe to push out the back. My Tatiana, hers poke out the back with no backs. Clothes do get caught on it. I’ll have to find something. I bought some screwbacks, but lost the dang things in all my reborning stuff! :woman_facepalming:t4:

I have rubber backings, I think those would work.

Those little cylindrical things? Where can I get?

@kathie53 Yes that’s what I meant, :wink:

Amazon sells silicone/rubber earring backs. 200 for $3.99. Walmart has smaller packs.

Thanks!

I buy them from Wish, 50 for about 4.00, I make earrings so they come in quite handy, I prefer them to the metal backings.

It worked, thank you all for your advice. Here she is with pierced ears.

Its what I had to work with and get them out fast for Christmas, I wanted to give them each reborn baby dolls, and found out they were silicone and I did not have the correct paint. The piercings went inside their heads so I did not need backings. And it was so easy with all the advice. Thank you.
