I sent them some new brands of heatset varnish I have tried and did not like. I also sent one new brand paint color that was awful. The rest of what I sent are Genesis colors that I will not use. When Genesis paints was going away, I bought some lots off Ebay for very high prices and in them were some colors I would not have chosen but it was a way to get colors I needed. For example, one color is orange. I never use orange. Seems I am always fighting orange vinyl instead! LMBO! However, I have a lot of Genesis colors that I do use and I for one would not ever part with those.
I am wondering if BB will do it again.
I have more to swap
I only had a “new” formula satin and a dried out 1/2 Matt varnish to get rid of. I have tons of Genesis paints, but none that I really want to part with. I have boxed up and printed my label and will drop off at UPS today…
Me too!
I got my paints shipped out today. When this post was first announced I spent the entire night organizing my paints, what I would keep and what I would swap. After I found out, there would be limitations, I set it all to the side until the email came out, and I found out what all the rules would be. Last night, I finally had time to spend going through everything I had set aside that I wanted to swap out and decided what would be the best combinations for me to send in. With the 20 jar limit, as much as I really wanted to get rid of the xodus mediums and varnish that I had, I decided to send in the original Genesis colours that I don’t use because they were bigger jar sizes. I really hope they don’t end up in the garbage or anything because I know someone out there would really appreciate having them. Now I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed that I don’t have a big custom fee when the swap gets sent back to me. Not sure if it being marked as a replacement instead of a purchase would make a difference or not. Either way I’ll be happier to have supplies I’m actually going to use.
I hope I like the other mediums and colours as much as I liked the matte varnish. Thank you @bbsupport for doing this swap.
I’ve used all of their mediums and they are the closest to Genesis I’ve found, with zero issues curing.
That’s great to hear. Ive never used a lot of the mediums in my painting or the satin varnish but I’m getting some of each so I can give it a try.
You’ll love them!
I checked my UPS tracking today and it says my paints should arrive to BB on Monday. I sent them this past Tuesday. I have liked what I have purchased from the Gemini line so far. I am excited to try more mediums. I can totally say that after trying everyone else’s brands I like this one the best on everything I have tried so far.
Definitely the best varnish out of the ones I’ve tried. I’m actually excited to try the colours too. My package tracking says it left Canada but hasn’t arrived in the US yet. That will probably be the next update.
I didn’t do the paint swap but I have been using the Gemini matte varnish and love it. I have been baking 12 minutes at 275 degrees. I just ordered some flesh 08. Does anyone know, do I bake that at the same temp and time?
I have had good succes on the varnish doing 265 for 13 mins.
Paints I do 9 mins. at 270
Ladies, do you bake varnish twice?
It’s been soooooo long for me since I use heat set varnish. But with everyone reporting wonderful results I am curios to try it again.
Gemini does fine for me baked once at 265 for 13 mins
Thank you.
Well tracking shows my paints are at a UPS facility in Salt Lake City! So they should get there on time Monday. I can’t wait to get my new mediums and paints back!
Mine are also in Salt Lake via UPS…
Mine was delivered yesterday too…
Mine finally made it to the US yesterday. It’s in Illinois so it’s still has a ways to go. The estimated delivery was tomorrow but I doubt it’s getting there overnight from how far away it still is.
