I ordered cookie an crystal. I know crystal isn’t a toddler but she is big for me. I’m so nervous about reborning them. I may start with crystal. Then cookie she’s so big to me lol. I’m use to 20 inches no bigger but most my babies are 18inches . I forgot I do have Stanley by cassie he’s 22inches. Such a big head. A lot to root. What size babies so you all prefer??
When I started reborning I prefered the larger babies (over 20") I don’t know why exactly. I now prefer the 18" to 20" babies. I guess I enjoy the newborns and yes the big head with all that “real estate” is a chore to root and does factor into it.
My faves are 18 - 20’, as well. I love newborns!
I love the toddlers, but so far have not been as successful at reborning them as my smaller babies. I am not fond of BB’s toddlers and wish they’d get some new ones that look more like Katie Marie Timmerman and some of the other sculpts but I guess they would have to charge more for them and then we might as well go buy them at other places… I have made BB’s Tibby, but I just don’t bond with her. It might be because I wigged her and I hate doll wigs…not sure. I don’t like her chin and her eyes. I’m going to sell her, but am not satisfied with her at this point so I have to maybe restuff her or something.
Lol. Enjoy! I prefer 18-20 inch babies. 16 inchers are fun, they go faster, but are harder to dress when finished! I’ve done two Rowan’s at the same time! Ugh!
I prefer doing the 18-20 inch babies, but when doing twins I like doing the 16 inch preemies.
The big babies and toddlers are a lot of fun to shop for! Well, so are the newborns and preemies…and real babies. REAL babies are tons of fun to shop for. Shopping for baby clothes is why I keep reborning. So there, the truth comes out. LOL. Wait. What was the question?
Have fun with your big babies!
I just did 26 inch Timone by Jannie de Lange, and the skin tones are different than smaller babies. She was a lot of fun working with her, as she is my first toddler, and also my first try at the new techniques that I posted in another thread. I will post pictures of her when I get her put together and wigged. I’m not going to try rooting her just yet, but will let a wig on without pasting it for now. I am waiting for an armature that I ordered before I put her together.
LOL!!!
And I LOVE the toddlers. I think they have great personalities and love to dress them. I wish Donna Rubert would come out with some more. " Donna, - if you’re listening !!! "
I like the 18" - 20" newborn sized. I just ordered Estelle Wosnjuk and Mathis Legler. Can’t wait to see them in person. I have my eye on one bigger but only because she looks exactly like one of my granddaughters. The sculpt is Ella-Mae by Jannie de Lange. I check on it with Macpherson Supplies almost every day and it keeps saying Coming Soon. I wish I knew how soon.
My first baby was LIBBY. About 22 inches and I weighted him to be around 10 lbs. The size of my son that was stillborn. I had two newborns that size and one 8.8 pounder. Those are newborns to me LOL
Have you tried the other companies. I got my Ella Mae at, I think, Doll Dreams or Irresistables. She was one of my first and I’m thinking of stripping her and redoing her. Her rooting is terrible too. It was my first attempt with human hair and the hair was super dry. I love Ella Mae.
I just read this. I’m so sorry about your son. I had a miscarriage with one child and still wonder about that baby. All my birth babies (I have adopted three children as well), were ten pounds or over and between 21 and 22 inches. My first born had tooth buds and could hold her head up the day she was born. I had my youngest birth baby when I was 48 years old and she was 10.4 pounds. So, I’m with you. Newborns are about ten pounds to me. I don’t think I’ve ever weighted one that much though. I think 7 was the most I ever did accept for my toddlers which of course weigh more. I used to look at other peoples little newborn babies and they seemed so fragile to me. They had tiny bones and tiny voices where mine looked and acted like they were two months old. I found the really tiny ones sort of intimidating.
I’m going to try those sites. Thanks!
Thanks so much Helen (@honojane). My son that was stillborn was my 3rd and youngest. He weighed 10.7 pounds and was 19 inches. Quite the little butterball (thanks to diabetes). He would be almost 19 now if he was here. So sorry for your loss as well. I think we will always wonder “what coulda been” when it comes to these babies. Hugsss!
~Mandy
Yup! Hugs back.
@honojane and @colee1970 I am so sorry for both of your losses. Hugs to both of you.
Thanks, Diane. For me, it was a long time ago, and my loss was not like our friend here. She actually saw her little one. Mine was too tiny to really seem like a baby at all, although it was. But I still remember it like it happened yesterday. I had wanted that baby so much, but I didn’t have another one for six years, and then I was blessed with my Charlotte, now 19 years old.
@colee1970 and @honojane
I’m very sorry. My heart goes out to both of you.
I had 4 miscarriages that occurred in the first trimester but I still miss my babies, I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. But, I am grateful to have my son. Hugs to both of you.
