Nursery Names, How'd You Pick?

How did you all sort out your nursery names? How did you reliably find out if someone else already had that name or something similar?

I’m trying to find a nursery name only so I can make up certificates for the babies I give away/make for people but it’s overwhelming. My photography business I called Hello Photo! and I thought Hello Baby! Reborns or something similar would work for me but I’m not sure how to be positive it’s not someone else’s name or too similar to someone else’s.

I feel weird even asking this because I’m new and don’t really feel like a “nursery” or a fully fledged artist yet, but I figure better to get this sorted sooner rather than later.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

When I started 4 years ago there was an active website with used reborn nursery names… now it isn’t active anymore.

I chose to add my name into my nursery name, so it was unique and not repeated.

I hate when I see copied nursery names.

Check Facebook, Twitter, Ebay, Reborns.com, forums, etc for the name you are thinking of and see what comes up…

That is what I am fearful of is having a name too close to someone else’s. From what I can find I don’t think anyone has that name but maybe it’s too bland? I wish I liked my name enough to use it. Caitlyn/Cait/Caity are all pretty bleh. And my last name is unique enough I know no one would have it ever but people can’t pronounce it unless they’ve heard it so not sure if that’s a good idea.

I understand. I am coming up on 2 years since I first began this journey into reborning dolls. I did not give a nursery name a thought, until someone mentioned that with a nursery name, you could add your dolls to Reborns.com just to have a place to show them. Even if you didn’t want to sell. Well, I don’t know about all that now. Some folks seem to feel Reborns.com has made a bad choice. I have no ideas or opinions on that. But, I have a niece who is starting a business making logos, signs, etc. She is supposed to be thinking of something for me to consider. So, we’ll see. My sister-in-law called my baby clothing I made “Ginny’s Originals”. But, I don’t see a nursery name from that.

There are a few hello baby nursery on Facebook when I searched that… as well as a lot of hello photo… not sure if any of them were yours?

You’re a better searcher than I am haha. All I found when I facebooked Hello Baby was some inspirational meme page. Likely one of the Hello Photos was mine, but I haven’t posted anything to it in a couple years. I’m not overly attached to the name or anything.

Caitlyn’s Cradle maybe? A coworker suggested that. My other hobbies include plants and gemstones, I was trying to think if I could use one of my dogs’ or rabbits’ names.

Ginny’s Originals is cute! They are all technically originals!

Yes, Jenni is an awesome researcher.

I thought it was cute for the baby clothes because they were originals. I need a bodice to start with to be sure to get the size right, but then the rest was mine. I loved doing that. The babies grew up and had babies, etc. etc. I don’t have any to make for anymore. I have been thinking about making some for my dolls. But right now I am trying to figure out the painting of the dolls! I don’t really see my nursery name as being “Ginny’s Originals”. I know they are all different, but it just doesn’t “fit” the same to me. I might come up with a name some day. When I get the last 2 kits I ordered I will have 54 babies to make including the 4 I have already made. Maybe I’ll run out of room. Who knows? But, I never have intended to sell them. I would only change my mind on that if I were to get really good at it.

Is your “day job” as a researcher?

My nursery name is Carolina Cuties. It has been copied more than once and I know that they were contacted and told that the name was in use.Somebody is currently copying it on facebook and 2 sisters in South Carolina stole it and continue to use it even after being told repeatedly that I had used that name for 15 years. They go to doll shows and use Carolina Cuties and people start contacting me all over again telling me that my nursery name is being used.I have even been contacted by people that have bought from them that sent their complaints to me.

Great tips, @anon76366621! I need to have a focus group haha.
@CarolinaCuties That is what I’m afraid of! I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes.
@Jacelyn5440 I do see what you mean. I mean none of the kits are really original. Holy goodness that’s a lot of babies to make! By then you’ll probably need a nursery name if only to hang above your doll room!

Now I realize I don’t want to use my last name for sure because I was arrested once and I really don’t want people to google the nursery name and find that as one of the first things that pops up. People make mistakes but I know not everyone sees it that way. But I guess paypal and shipping would give people both of my names but IDK I’ve never googled the name of someone I’ve bought from.

@anon76366621 You read my mind. I just did and nothing about me being arrested even pops up so I guess I worried for nothing. There’s only two of us with the same name, and she lives in Texas. I actually found her on Twitter because her handle is our name! We talk still to this day, haha. There is a Caitlin who is big in the Florida horse circuits apparently!

I chose my nursery name because I’m born and raised in the South and listen to music each and every time I pick up a paint brush to do anything Reborn related. Probably a silly reason but I went with it. I looked and found some with similar names but not exactly and not close enough to change it but then again I chose this year’s ago before joining any FB groups/forums lol
Southern Lullabies Reborn Nursery is the name btw

I had cards made a couple years back and some of the stores around here kept them at the front counter. Most of my customers have been local, I have around 12 or so that live elsewhere. This is the first year I’ve done any online selling. In person is just easier lol. No claims, no scams etc and buyer gets to see and hold baby in person before paying. Works out great lol

Mine is Milo’s Meadows Reborn Nursery. I named it after my favorite cat at the time who had passed away young (1.5 yrs old) just before I started reborning. His name was Milo and he liked to play outside in the grass, hence the name.

I’ve had my nursery name since March 2013 and someone recently copied it with two letters different and they also are repainting the knock off Aprils. It Stinks.

Mine is technically Wild Meadow Art Dolls but I go by Wild Meadow Baby on social media because I feel like it is more simple and catchy. Meadow/flower/garden (any nature things) seem to be a common name as well as things like blessing/angel/honey etc. it would be hard to fully know as not all sellers are active on Reborns etc. Hello baby is cute! I remember saying “hi baby” when my first was born and laid on my chest so it brings back very fond memories! I like it!
Wild Meadow stems from all the wild floral colored undertones and washes I like to use on my babies/ my oldest daughter’s name is Violet- often found growing in any wild meadow around here!

I started in late 2011 when I was 65 and named the nursery “Never Too Old (to make a baby) Reborn Nursery”. On Facebook it is: Pia’s Never Too Old Reborn Nursery… I don’t think anyone has hijacked it.
