I am thinking a lot about changing my nursery name. At first, I tought it was cute and funny. But now I feel uncomfortable with being associated with piercing in most of Google search
I want a name easily understand in French and English.
I am almost invisible in social media, so not a big deal for that. I sell on reborns.com, but I am far from being a well known artist, and my website is an embryon.
Worst is my email address, Etsy site and username in some sites, also my domain name. It would be a assle to change it all.
I suppose itâs better to do that before beginning to being known, even if itâs mean throwing away my ton of business cards!
Is it a good idea ? Those who have done this, how does it went ?
Iâm in the same boat. I donât like my nursery name (Katina Lee Babies.) I originally wanted to call my nursery âChickaboo babies.â Then I started hearing âsurely she isnât going to call her nursery that! â. Turns outâŚmy childhood nickname that I had since I was 3 days old in 1972 is now a derogatory term. How dare they steal my name.
AnywayâŚI couldnât think of anything after that. So Katina Lee Babies it was.
That sounds like a cute little name. What do people think it means now?
Nursery name changing⌠people do it, but I am too lazy. Lol It is just too much work to switch everything over. What is your nursery name now, @Leabelle?
I donât know. Online when I google Chickaboo it seems fine. But people around here cringe. I think they confuse it with Jigaboo which is an offensive racial slur.
It is sad, to me, some of the things that are so ugly today that were beautiful in the beginning when they were first used. Crazy how humans mess things up sometimes. I think your nickname is cute, too.
Itâs Bellybutton reborn dolls.
@Katinafleming Chickaboo is really cute ! But Katine Lee babies is just right, straight to the point, simple. I wish my own name wasnât so common.
I am french Canadian, I speek french, but majority of my customers are english. I have to be careful with the meaning of english terms, as they donât always mean the same in french ! Itâs hard !
I will admit if I was a customer I would pass over dolls from Bellybutton⌠or Kittycatbutt
The names just donât sound âcute and cuddlyâ to me⌠I wouldnât want to answer the âwhoâs the artist?â question.
Is it something people call you due to your name being Isabelle?
My youngest is Isabella and I call her Isabelly and Isabeasle when we are making up rhymes with her name. Isabella, Izzy and Is the rest of the time.
In french, that sound very cute, âbouton de bedonâ ! âNombrilâ is less cute ! I used to kiss my kids there when they were babies, and that make them laugh.
Like I said, sometime english and french donât match !
I have realized that some time ago and thatâs why I want a new name.
I never had a nick name, except Isa. Nothing original !
In addition, they are two Belly Buttons nursery on RebornsâŚI would change it.
May be you can change it to something Canada specific like âMaple Leaf Nurseryâ - that would definately distinct you from USA artists.
@Leabelle Your babies are beautiful!
Thank you !
Maple leaf is over use here, but I will play with the idea !
A year ago or so. A local news caster used the term âjigabooâ she didnât mean no harm n didnât know that it was a Racial slur. It didnât bother me. The news caster she worked with is African American. He knew n said she didnât mean anything by it. But, she was suspended for a week. Or forced to take time off. My nursery name is momma pats nursery. My mother was called Pat, short for Patricia. I know my mother would have loved reborn dolls. So I named my nursery after or for my mom.
@Leabelle I didnât mean in in direct âMaple Leafâ way, but youâve got an idea.
I like @Amethyst suggestion to play with âsweetnessâ which all babies represent.
May be âMaple Sweetness Nurseryâ, âQuebec Little Maplesâ or something like that.
What other things represent Canada the best? Unfortunately I am not familiar with Canada culture.
Glad you smoothed that over @Msmimi04 I was waiting for some fangs to come out, lol. That caught me off guard @Katinafleming
Lol, no fangs.
I think about Lea Lys reborns Nursery or something like that maybe. Lea was the name of my grandmother and the second name of my daughter. Lys is a Quebec iconic flower.
I just want to be sure if changing name is worth it.
If you are unhappy with the name of your nursery then in my opinion a change of names would be worth it after all you need to be happy with it as well .
Hum, a lot of Lea Lys on FacebookâŚ
Maybe Snowy Owl nursery ?
I like the âmaple sweetenessâ idea, but there are so much nurseries with variations on the theme.
Bellaâs or Belleâs Buttons?
Bellaâs (Belleâs) Buttons Reborn Nursery?
