SO many of you might not like me for saying this but I will say it anyways. I am not happy about the Realborn kits being on such low sale prices. My reason being that IMO it devalues what the Realborn kits started out being. They were supposed to be unique and nicer than the regular kits and I thought more limited. Having purchased some of these kits at the higher prices and then seeing them drop in price so drastically before I can reborn some of my stock is a disappointment. At this point, they are no more special than the regular kits.
At first I was thinking, “What is WRONG with these guys!” But the more I think about it, the more I agree with you. Presley Asleep was handled really well. He was sold as a limited edition and commanded a good price. I would have bought another if there were more, but then it was on to the next realborn and that fun so afterwhile I was good with it. He was special and he stayed special.
Yes! I totally agree with you Sonja! Customers do check the kit prices and when they see a Realborn kit go for less than $30 they think the reborn baby should be under $200. I won’t say I will never buy the Realborn kits again but once my stock is used up this will affect my future purchases. I won’t be buying any new kits at full price if I am always going to have to worry about them being devalued shortly thereafter.
EXACTLY! I can still sell Presley reborn babies well because buyers consider him special. The other Realborns I am just trying to get done and sold now to be rid of them.
I’m rather on the fence. Personally I get excited to be able to get these kits at a great price. I really like most of the Realborns BUT Presley is the only one that is a valuable kit to me. My Sleeping Presley kit with no COA is more valuable to me than any of the other ones. So as much as I like the RealBorns and love a good deal, I agree with you, Angie. Sales on RealBorns devalues the kits.
I guess I can see where some of ya are coming from but I personally am really thankful for these really nice and affordable kits and believe that has always been a goal of BB to provide reborn artists with very nice and affordable kits to reborn -so I am thrilled that these kits go on sale -I was not so thrilled to hear they were doing LE kits in the first place -BB has always been the GO TO for very nice quality kits we all can afford and I sure hope they stay that way THANK YOU BB !!!
I have to agree with you on this one not all can afford to do the more expensive top of the line kits and a place that keeps that in mind is nice to have .
If there are some who prefer to have some kits that are set above the others then perhaps the LE is the way to go and their prices could perhaps not drop ? but would still leave some nice kits for the others that need the lower price .
Maybe the more important aspect is the fact the market is glutted shortly after the sale with a doll from a kit that goes on sale so you cant get top price…
However if you put it away then list a few months later it possibly wont be up with 2 or 3 others .
The face of a sculpt can look very differntly depending on the arist. Some to me are almost unrecognizable from another of that sculpt .I think the sale may not be becuse some other is $30 cheaper
.Dolls i think sell by the people loving that particular doll.If yours hits a cord and looks somewhat different i think it sells .
. Last A person who is buying a doll arent the same people who buy that doll a second time generally so you just dont want that sculpt up with others of the same. Later they wont be.
Sell them when that sculpt isnt on sale
.Maybe we need to sign up to get on the site for prices anyway.?
I too appreciate a good sale. IMO though a LE kit is a nicer kit and one should expect to pay a higher price. Even when Presley came out as a LE the pricing was lower than most LE kits on the market these days. BB has PLENTY of other kits on constant sales for those who are looking for a bargain without gutting the prices of the Realborn kits devaluing them to the status of any other average kit. I like to have some LE kits because they are just that, limited. Just like a buyer who can not afford to buy an expensive reborn should not expect us to lower our prices to ridiculous amounts, those who can not afford to buy LE kits should not expect them to be sold at cheap prices.
Alas, it is what it is and so be it. The Realborn kits are now in the cheap kits category along with the other BB kits and so that is what they are. I will look elsewhere now for nice LE kits.
I love sales … And I think what makes a baby special is not the kit , it is what the artist do with it … I have changed my prices
I have a flat fee plus kit price ( so if the kit is on sale it is good for the customer ) sometimes I even let them know where they can choose the kits from .If I want to make a non custom baby it is good for me as well …
Thank You BB for the sales ️
I am not in any way discounting the ability to produce a well reborn baby as a huge part of the sales process. I have seen some horrid reborn LE kits. I am talking about the markets being flooded with the same kit because it was sold for a mere $30 and now it no longer holds any special uniqueness on its own before it is reborn.
I think the uniqueness is on the baby not on the kit IMO
I have thought like that before too … Specially when the Rose contest just accept Bonnie Brown’s kit (twin A /twin B and Saskia) I thought it would be too much of the same kit … But believe me it was very fun to see so many different version of the same kit …
I disagree. I think it can be both or either/or. Just look at how kits like Esme & Miracle Eagles, Harper and Maizie Arcello and others continue to hold their value as a kit because the kit itself is considered unique.
I missed the LE sales I guess only ones I saw this time are the real born and they are not limited so can go on and on and eventually people will lose interest in them as has happened to some of the other kits.
I don’t buy the kit for its collectable qualities I buy it because I like it and some of the real born and LE just don’t interest me.
PS My mistake they do have a LE sleeping Thomas , nice deal I paid more when I bought mine .
No, I am not talking about reselling kits.
The price of the kit should not matter at all. That’s like basing the price of an oil painting on the price of the canvas. We are artists. We should not sell ourselves short. I really hate seeing beautiful babies go for cheap prices. Then the public expects the prices on all of them to come down. Just my opinion.
