Ty! I love her too. I’m trying to send you some extra pix but having issues.
I plan on painting Bindi sometime this year.
Vintage items that are still in excellent condition would be an exception for me. I have purchased vintage Petite Ami smocked dresses and bubble suits for my own babies and once in a very while I have included one on a baby I sold but I stated the outfit was vintage.
@anjsmiles
Vintage or antique is special.
But I went for so long without paying any attention to baby clothes that I was thinking “vintage” was the norm and didn’t recognize it as such when I saw it. I dressed my own real life baby in soft classics over 20 years ago.
The modern clothes that stood out to me were obvious; onesies with phrases on them, tutus for all ages, and jeggings. Sparkly Ugg style boots.
Either no diapers or cloth diapers on my keepers. I don’t even magnetize mine for pacis anymore because I want to see their faces. Love finding vintage clothes and crochet at thrift stores. I like getting outfits from @Debdi ‘s Etsy shop, and once in a while i’ll buy from Next USA. They have some really pretty things.
What do you crochet?
What is NextUSA?

Blankets, hats and I use the Loom for booties. I am not an expert but I try, lol! @Ladybuggirl
I go to savers. Once in a while I’ll go to the goodwill.
Where I’m at, the Goodwills are great and there’s many of them.
There are less Value Villages/Savers and they are more run down.
But the most bottom of the barrel thrifting, closest thing you’ll ever find to dumpster diving, is shopping at the Goodwill Outlet store. Where everything that already had a chance to sell at the normal Goodwills but didn’t is all brought out mixed up in giant rolling bins.
Don’t bother showering for this excursion, cause you’ll need one afterwards. Dozens of people stand around waiting for fresh bins to be rolled out, it’s brutal. Combat thrifting, shoulder deep through stuff that sometimes smells like urine, human infection, etc. Last chance before it’s part of a landfill. And if you don’t cover your cart, someone might snatch your finds right out while you dig.
The Goodwill Outlet is the closest thrifting near me. But I rarely have the stomach for it.
If you find something you want, it’s weighed and you’re charged by the pound, with few exceptions.
Now if you can find a treasure there, that’s really impressive.
I’ve seen YouTube videos about the Goodwill outlets. Sounds scary!
Ewwww gross no thanks!
Yeah, I love thrifting but that’s too rough for me most days!
I love vintage baby clothes for my own dolls and if I have something special in good condition I will send it along to a buyer sometimes. I always send new clothing too though. My “used” clothes usually come from antique shops not thrift store because the stuff I use for my collection and send is sometimes 100 years old. I wish I could find it in thrift stores, but not the ones near me. They barely have baby clothes at all and most of it is in worse condition than my 100 year old clothes.
I don’t collect but before I covid I would go to a local consignment shop and treasure hunt. I have a bunch of vintage christening gowns that I had dry cleaned and I have bagged, they are on the larger side and I have yet to use one but I may on a special baby.
I also will pick up new or like new, it has to be pretty special for me to grab it, I am picky. I usually wash all my clothes before I send them out, lately I don’t because I feel weird washing baby clothes where I wash our clothes, I feel like its better to let the buyer do it for the time being. I really like to shrink stuff up, I like it soft and a bit wrinkly.
I use a lot of my handmade consignment sweaters, hats, and blankets for photo props.
I send every baby home with a magnetic Paci and clip now, I didn’t at first but now its just easier to remove and unwanted magnet than to pull off heads and magnetize. I think I remove a magnet once in every 50 babies.
Baby shoes are something I don’t like but I will buy at a consignment store for that rare older baby. My kids didn’t have shoes until they were walking (and I mean really running around). I was told once by a doctor that barefoot babies have better balance, they need to use those grippy little toes to develop feet and leg muscles properly. For me its weird to see a baby in shoes it would be like a mustache.
I love vintage baby clothes but I don’t make vintage looking babies so the few things I have I kinda hoard.
I love those little cotton smocked gowns in white and pale pink…so pretty.
My kids were naked, or in a diaper and onesie. It is hot where I live and I had kids who loved to be naked, and swam all day from the time the were a couple months old.
You have to admit baby clothes are an addiction, hard to pass them up.
If I go to a thrift shop I head straight over to them.
I love, love, love granny knitted blankets. For a while I had about a hundred of them. I slowly gave them away. I have a few left in my prop basket. You can just feel the love in them.
