Mystery Kit Club-have you heard of it?

Does anybody here belong to the Mystery Kit Club? Do you think it’s worth it? Membership #1 is $74.99 per year for 1 mystery kit. Membership #2 is $139.98 for 2 mystery kits. Plus shipping, of course. Kits are preemie-newborn size. They do layaway. Some of the kits are exclusive to members. I just saw one of these on reborns.com that’s really cute. That’s how I found out about the Mystery Kit Club. It sounds like it could be fun. It says they’ve been doing it for 10 years and are only accepting 1000 members. I’ve never heard of it.

Isn’t in sort of headed by Bobbi Barfoot?

Yes it is ran by Bobbi.

I joined it for the first kit and got the preemie Maia kit. They havent done the club for 10 years but she has been in the reborn community for 10 years.
They have only had the one baby kit (Maia) so far.

I really like that little Maia kit. I wish I could get one.

I’m in the club, but just beware…her communication sucks. I signed up for the 2 kits a year with monthly payments of around $12. That part is fine. So far no trouble. I’ve paid in 3-4 months now but no kit has been released so I don’t know if there will be a problem. But I also decided to buy that one time surprise mystery box for $50. (I think she has since changed it to sold out.) Anyway, after not receiving the box, and no response from her, I finally filed a PayPal claim. Still nothing. (You file a claim on me, you’re gonna get my immediate attention.) So…I finally posted about it on this forum and was told to contact Bobbi through Facebook. That got her attention. I dismissed the PayPal claim so I could get her to send the box. She ended up sending a Wandon kit and a pair of tiny socks. I expected the surprise box to be stuff of good value. I know Wandon’s retail value is more than $50, but he’s $50 on her site. If I wanted him for $50 I would have bought him straight up instead of as a surprise for the exact same price. So…my mystery box was a major disappointment. I’m just hoping the mystery kits are better. :grimacing:

It doesn’t really sound like a good idea to me. What if the kit is not one you like? I’d rather have my husband choose one from a list for me or something.

What makes is appealing is that the mystery kits are only available through the club. So you get an exclusive kit with a very limited number. But even with that, there are plenty of low edition kits out there that you could pick and buy without the club. Like the Wandon kit she sent me right off her Truborn site. He’s limited to 100. But she still had to put him at half price, with nobody seeming to want him. I’m wondering if the mystery kits will be the same way…awkward kits that would go to half price on a regular site. The little Maia kit seems cute. But she’s also a little awkward. I doubt she would sell many on regular sites
