Mottling on Asian babies---advice?

I am about to start the mottling phase of my boy/girl Asian twins from Celeste I’m calling Yoko and Yann. I’m scared. I’m not finding a lot of examples online. It seems they don’t have much mottling, so I’m assuming it should be very faint with hardly any on the face. I’m confused about what colors to use. BTW these are my Celeste heads on which I opened the mouths to make them drink/wet babies and on one I opened the eyes and reconstructed the bottom lip.

Keep the mottling very light. FYI: Lara Antonucci has a couple of wonderful tutorials on painting Asian babies. They are available at dollsbysandie.com.

I use pink mottling mostly as the dominant mottling color.

I’m thinking Japan. Because of the names which I love so much. I think Yoko, John Lennon’s mate, was from Japan, and Yann is a character in a game I play with my grandson. I name my babies in alphabetical order. Love those sample pictures @kareninflorida.
BTW my twins are not showing their true coloring in the light here in my living room. They are really kind of a pale suntan color. When I finish painting I take some pictures in my bedroom using my photo setup.
Thanks everyone.

Asian babies can have lots mottling lol! Just the pics online are often photoshopped, like most baby shoot pics. I’m Chinese and I’m BRIGHT red in my newborn photos.

I love Celeste awake

I agree! The Asian babies can be very mottled like Caucasian babies. Both my kids were quite pink when they were born.

My granddaughter is Asian American - and was adopted from birth and didn’t look any different than any other baby as far as mottling goes, in my opinion - in fact, she was the spitting image of Kameko so I did that one for her.

How did you open Celeste’s eyes and get them so smooth? They look really good.

Here they are nearly finished.
The secret with the eyes was to have a VERY sharp blade and cut slowly. I had to pack clay over the eyeballs to get them to stay in since there was no pocket for them. Then I let that dry and covered it all with E6000 glue. The mouth was another challenge. I used Sculpey clay and liquid Sculpey to build a bottom lip.

That’s my Cai in the corner. Happy with the mottling thanks to you guys. Didn’t do much on the faces, but the body has a lot.
