Can some tell me how many packs of Mohair to use on a 21 inch doll.
Depends on if you root sparse newborn look or want it thicker.
i can root 3 babies also with half oz

Yes! It is longer at the crown and about 3/4 of an inch on most of it.

Somehow I always end up using way more than that. But I also haven’t been keeping in practice and my babies are rooted extremely thickly. If you are asking about how many packages of mohair, I am assuming you are thinking of the ruby red mohair that BB sells. Most of us will tell you “Don’t use it!!!”. I would advise against it unless you absolutely have to (either because of finances or because you don’t want to wait to get better stuff). It is worth the wait. Plus you end up using less if you are like most people. If it is your first time rooting, plan on an ounce. Nothing worse than getting halfway thru a head and realizing you are running out of that color.
And Pia, you can root mine too! I just really need to paint them first!

I find myself using a lot less if it’s very high quality mohair.

beautiful job! i, unfortunately waste a lot of mohair when rooting. whatever i’m doing wrong causes a lot of it it to bunch up and turn into an unusable tumbleweed looking thing. or a dust bunny is more what it looks like. i’ve rooted 2 dolls sparsely and used the half ounce on each. 
i dream of attending a rooting class at rose. did you guys find it useful? good? worth the $? i would love to know.

I like: slumberland,sugergliders,delta dawn,singingfalls and am fixing to try CJ’s.I just ordered from CJ’s as I saw a beautiful color on ebay and just had to try it.I know a lot of people order from China and use that because it’s cheap but that stuff is just frizzy and I don’t like it.JMO.If you use quality mohair ,you have a lot less waste so I think it is worth the price.I have purchased from many places and have a drawer full of stuff I did not like saved for alternative babies(grand daughter likes to make alternatives). I know singingfalls has some beautiful colors listed on ebay right now.Edit to add singingfalls is mohairgoat on ebay.
