What is meant by medical grade silicone? The COA says my sili is medical grade silicone.
Perhaps it is the type of silicone they can put inside bodies and use on them and around them and such. I think it is the standard in which how good it is.
In that case it’s probably pretty sturdy huh?
In the medical field certain things like urinary catheters are made with silicone. It seems pretty durable.
Maybe it’s more like the older silicone’s made from “dragonskin”. I don’t know though.
It’s not dragon skin. She is much softer than dragon skin but not squishy like the newer silis.
I can’t say what series it is BUT medical grade silicone is platinum cure. It is just super purified.
Medical silicones have lower levels of chemical compounds that are able to seep out when they are heated or exposed to other chemicals.
Essentially, they are just making it sound somehow better than everyone else’s silicone but the reality is, platinum cured is platinum cured. They all have the same shelf life given all variables the same (no slacker or additives that speed cure).
They might be more hypoallergenic??? Really, I think it is just saying platinum.
How sturdy it is isn’t really a difference across platinum cured in respect to purity. The purity doesn’t set the shore hardness. There are other measurements for determining tensile strength and medical grade silicone runs the scale like all other silicone.
As a whole, all platinum silicones are more durable in terms of how long they last. The shore and tensile strength will vary. Urinary tubes are likely harder than a silicone baby but durable they are!
That’s what I have read. It’s platinum silicone.
They definitely are a bit harder than the latex catheters. Some patients don’t like them. But they sure make easier work when you have to put a catheter in a patient that has a prostate issue.
I would think sterility would be what sets it apart as medical.
