Masterpiece Doll Eyes Cracked

Does anyone have any experience with masterpiece brand dolls eyes cracking? I’ve had these guys downstairs for quite a few years, and I was moving them to a different room and today noticed most of their eyes have a crack.

Some were less noticeable than others, and I did find a cool tutorial on how to replace them, but for the amount of masterpiece dolls that I have replacing all their eyes is going to be at work in progress due to cost

Is this a common occurrence? Or something that I did unintentionally?

I know the vinyl can bend on these dolls, so I wasn’t surprised when one of the standing ones had a wonky foot even though they had been on a doll stand. So I’m wondering if their vinyl has something to do with it.

Also, are there any suggestions for how to make it less noticeable in the meantime before I get them replaced?

edit - I checked My moms collection that had also been stored in the room down stairs. I noticed a crack in one of the eyes of hers but nothing compared to these guys. Hers were stored in a different spot (interior wall whereas mine were up against an exterior wall). Even more confused now though.

You could try putting some Pledge Revive It floor gloss on them. Put it on a small brush and drop it in the center so it spreads out over the whole eyeball and fills the cracks. Don’t brush it on or it will streak.

Thank you! I will try that!

Yes, there was a period of time when those dolls were having issues with eyes cracking. I think it can happen with age as well. Using the Floor polish should help to make them less noticeable.

It looks like pledge has discontinued their revive it product. Will this do? Or is something else similar?

From the reviews I’ve read, this doesn’t sound like a good option for doll eyes. Are you in the U.S.? If you are I can send you a small bottle of my Pledge. It looks like they don’t make it anymore.

Oh that would be awesome. I am in the US. And I would be happy to pay for the pledge and shipping. I’ll message you tomorrow

I still have an older bottle I have used on for years. However, what you can do instead is to buy a water based acrylic gloss varnish and apply it.
