Lucas vs Laurie

Hi all,

I have both a Lucas and a Laurie kit, both by by Cassie Ann (Brace) Love, so I took some pictures comparing them. They are very sweet and very similar.

Laurie is the slightly larger one. She is on the right in every pic. Her vinyl is a little darker.

I love both of their faces so much. The vinyl looks great too…My only concern is that Laurie’s arms don’t look as round at their tops as I’m used to. I’m used to kits where the top of the arms are rounded and there’s usually an armpit crease, so it really makes the shoulders look real. Maybe it’s because I’ve been spending so much time with Realborns? Both Laurie and Lucas have less roundness/detail in that area compared to Realborn Rebekah (pictured, the painted arm) and Laurie’s arms feels even less round than Lucas. The angle of their flanges is a little different. I’m not sure if it will mater once they’re put together. This could just be me being really picky. They both don’t have a lot of fat on them. What do you think?

Overall, I think I prefer Laurie’s face and size the best, but Lucas’s limbs more. They are so similar they could totally be twins, though!

In my opinion it makes the arm/shoulder area much more realistic when assembled than Realborns. Every Realborn I’ve ever assembled looks like a linebacker no matter how lightly you stuff the upper torso. I have been a nanny for 23+ years as well as a mom, have yet to see a babe with big round shoulders.

I think the arms will be fine. The first thing I noticed on mine is she has a thick neck for such a dainty looking face. I think a thinner neck and flange area makes the head bobble more naturally. It is interesting how Lucas has a thinner one.

I am not a fan of BB roundness. I think Lucas arms look just perfect on the body.

I think I remember when @JoyW sculpted Chardon with round shoulders/ arms, Bobby ask to remove that extra because they look more natural on a body that way.
