Lovan already?

How in the world does someone get this kit reborn and up for sale so quickly? Mine has just now shipped.

Mine arrived from Mac’s on Tuesday. The listing says she got it from Mac’s so going to assume she got it Tuesday too. So basically reborned in one day. No rooted or painted hair, I don’t see any fine details or nail tips, creasing is iffy and the paint on the face and lips looks super thick. Blah!

Wow that’s some fast reborning…
I thought they needed time for paint and varnish to “cure” before trying to sell

It says heat set paint.

for people in Kansas the day has more than 24 H

Her pricing reflects her speed… $250 to $500ish available babies…

That wasn’t the 1st Lovan. I saw this on 4/30, but I know Deborah paints fast.

He sold fast…but her prices are low too!

You’ve met @RosieCait , yes? Presumably, a few others are just as fast. Not to knock this doll, but Caits would have had a much deeper level of detail.

Too low

Why are we knocking others painting styles?

This one is cute. When you zoom in on his face in that second pic there something all over his face, can’t tell what it is. I don’t know if people remember Sarah Daughtry but she could paint lightning fast and her babies were very detailed. She said she would paint through night.

Well I wasn’t knocking her painting style or time it takes her. I was confused because I did not think this kit had been shipped yet in enough time for anyone to have one painted and up for sale yet. I see I was wrong. Mine is coming from Irresistables, whom I never order kits from but she had one on sale I wanted and I was able to order Lovan late through her with it as well. Mine is supposed to arrive tomorrow (Friday).

Not knocking one, moreso highlighting the skill of another. I thought I made that pretty clear in my statement. No offense was meant, but sometimes people are intent to find it anyway.

The lack of any kind of hair is NOT knocking painting style. Simply saying that painted hair most certainly would have been included in the same amount of time from a different (and specific) artist.

Why are you taking umbrage to something that was not at all meant as a slight?

The written word sometimes comes across other than the way it was intended.

I’m not trying to knock anyones painting style but I don’t think those that put up dolls this quick are in it for the artistry.

“creasing is iffy and the paint on the face and lips looks super thick. Blah!”” This comment seems a bit judgmental. That is why I posted what I did.

Well I think sometimes you got to be judgmental. I certainly don’t make it a habit and keep my mouth shut for the most part but I would be lying if I said that some of these fast painters don’t stick in my craw. Yes there are some that are fast (3 to 5 days) and put out a decent doll for the asking price but more often than not these fast painters have nothing to do with artistry and everything to do with making a fast buck off unsuspecting collectors by having a new sculpt out there first. I won’t mention names but there are many reborners in the community who do this. There is one in particular who slaps on one or two coats of really thick heat set paint, plucks a few hairs in the top of the head and then markets her dolls to developmentally impaired people for prototype prices. It’s disgusting. Luckily she is mostly shunned in the community and she has been called out for this in FB groups (not by me btw) but she is still at it, she just leaves the groups and blocks people.

Just yesterday I got a message from a newbie on the reborn site who was asking about one of my dolls. She wanted more pics and said she was hesitant to buy because she had been scammed twice with good looking pics only to receive a bad doll. Even a bad doll can look okay in pics especially to the untrained eye and it affects those of us who are here for the right reasons.

I’ve been reborning for 14 years and I know very well what goes into it and I also know dang well a doll painted and put up for sale in day is BS and most likely not gonna be a good doll but if it is a fair price for the work/ effort then whatever.

Well I got my Lovan yesterday. She is a bigger baby and has a bit of an older looking face I think. She will be interesting to see how she comes out. She too has that more orange tone vinyl that JCDolls seems to be producing now and once again I noticed a bit of a smell to the vinyl. It is not as bad as the Maple kits were but it is there. I immediately took her out of all the plastic bagging and have her laid out to air out. I also got Luisa Auer at a good price from Esther in this order. Her vinyl is so much nicer in color but then she has been out a while. I miss that color!

I don’t know that I will get to any of my new kits for DOTW. I have had to take the whole month of April off for the wedding. Now I am behind, trying to get hair painted on all the kits I had here painted otherwise. I have been painting from the time I get up until I have to stop for dinner hour on my days off. My tendonitis in my hand and arm hurts literally from my hand to my shoulder. My whole arm is inflamed. I don’t know how much more I can do once I get these done but I wanted to do a couple more silicones. We will see…

she does have 80 positive reviews, so her customers are very happy with the babies from her :slightly_smiling_face:
