Looking for a sturdier kit drying rack

Hi there everyone,

I am currently using baby bottle drying racks for drying my kits when painting. I feel like I need something sturdier. I have seen the wooden racks and would like to try them. I use air dry paints. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Julie

I use wooden jewelry stands/mug displays! My grandpa custom made a few for me based on the jewelry stand and they work great. Im usually able to put the head on the top part

They look like this:

Amazon.com - the ones I have that look like this, with the “branches” angled are my favorite!

It is tough to use them for larger kits - i would recommend something like a wooden plate holder for larger babies. Even with the taller tree displays it can be hard to balance the limbs in such a way that the whole thing doesnt fall over.

I use GHSP.

I have several of the Pampered Chef wooden racks that I have used for years. You can look on EBay for them. As you can see, you don’t have to use all the pieces.

Thanks @cajuncuties & @Sydster! I bought 2 wood racks from Dolls by Sandie. I really liked Shannon’s idea with the pampered chef racks!

I also have this one from Sandie. It works great in the oven since the dowels are shorter. I usually only do a couple of pieces at a time, though.

Have you ever done a libby kit on them? Does it fit Libby?

You can remove the dowels. For Libby’s head(I did her as a cuddle baby), I removed all but one and placed the head so it rested mainly on the base. The one dowel is left to keep the head from rolling off. I’m very careful when I use this to heat. If you overheat, the limbs will begin to droop. I’m also careful as I remove it from the oven. The dowels are mainly used as a prop to hold the pieces up for better heat distribution. That’s why I only do a few pieces at a time(usually head, then arms, and last the legs). Hope all that made sense. BOL

Here are some pics. Because of the extremely bent legs, I would not put them on this rack to bake in a regular oven. I’d do them in my NuWave without the rack.

Wow, Joseph’s big! I like big babies  I don’t bake. I use air dry paints so they would mostly be used for drying. Thanks for showing me!

I use one of these:

You can dry three kits at a time.

Has anyone used one of these?: Amazon.com: Munchkin® High Capacity Drying Rack for Baby Bottles and Accessories, White : Baby

Are they sturdy? The ones I’m using right now are the The First Years brand Spin Stack Drying Rack. I have had one of them collapse on me so it doesn’t lift the top one anymore :frowning: and then little things to hold the bottles, aren’t sturdy for the limbs.

They bend a bit with heavy limbs. But it isnt too bad. (hasnt broken so far  )
I can put 2 full kits on at once. Depending on size of course.

For toddler limbs, it doesnt work. I use the peg style ones for those (like Shannon showed)
