I have watched many (probably too many) videos on YT of collectors with their box openings and baby clothes changes and I noticed that many have very long fingernails.
Are long fingernails compatible with these art works? Just curious

I think with creating them it’s definitely kinda tricky. I wouldn’t want to tightly stuff a limb or insert eyes with long fingernails!
You’d also have to be careful to not scratch them.
Yeah that’s what I was thinking - scratches! and on a silicone perhaps rips
And on another note I just watched another new YT reborn collector channel…she just purchased 14 reborns in one month!! I guess it could be longer but there were 14 box openings in one month as per the channel…so there are customers out there LOL
My goodness! I see some people on YouTube, even kids with such a big collection. I always wonder about how rich these people must be
I don’t reborn, so I can’t say as far as the artwork goes… But I am really lazy with cutting my nails and they grow fairly long.
Since it’s gradual, I just adapt how I use my hands in general. As they grow you get used to using your fingers in a more flat and gentle way.
At some point, though, they become a nuisance. I just recently cut mine down after I accidentally sliced open a ziplock bag while I was closing it.
Whenever I chop them off after having them long it feels weird that my fingertips are exposed again.
However, that’s natural nails. Acrylics behave very differently and I’d expect they’d be more problematic since they are stronger and basically pieces of plastic on your hands. They can probably do more damage with whatever is being handled.
Looks to me like most of the artists here don’t have long nails while showing works in progress…
I’m curious about other’s answers as well. If you wear nail polish do you have to use gloves while painting? How many people are always painting with gloves on anyways?
As far as handling finished reborns goes, I am more concerned about my hands being clean and lotion free.
It might be more concerned about how sharp my nails were if I were handling silicones.
Acrylic nails are pretty thick so even the pointy ones aren’t really sharp so I’m thinking that wouldn’t be a prob but long acrylics are so thick I can’t imagine working with them. I couldn’t even pick up a coin when I had them lol
I don’t know how to pounce with fake nails on! Lol
I keep my nails pretty long as I can’t stand them when they are short (they get dirty really easy when they’re short) and I don’t have any problem reborning. When I break a nail off really short it freaks me out cause it makes my fingertips so sensitive, I hate it!! I don’t believe I’ve ever ‘scratched’ a reborn when working on one.
I get acrylics every now and then, but I can’t stand long nails since I feel like I can’t do anything with my hands if they’re too long which is very inconvenient at work (in a daycare) and reborning. I always get medium length at most and not too pointy and I can reborn with them just fine.
