Local FB marketplace and craigslist full of china dolls

My Local FB marketplace and sometimes craigslist is full with cheap china manufactured reborn. I did contacted one person today and she sent me a link where she bought the doll. The doll she is selling for affordable price looks good on her photos but still she should no better however nice the website it is etc.

here is the link and I am sure it is somewhere on the scam lists , if not please someone add it

Ugh, I see box openings on YouTube from Adolly all the time! Stolen sculpts, unfortunately not terribly painted and under $100. Makes things so much harder for us, makes me miss the days they were doing horrendously painted stolen sculpts…

It’s so sad. Bonnie brown made a post today about how upsetting it is to see people buying knock offs of her work

I feel bad for her but there are still plenty of us who want and buy the real deal.

They definitely have upped their game on appearance. Unfortunately. It’s easy to find dolls that don’t look as good on reborns for 3 times this price.

I feel for the sculptors. If I had this ability, I’d probably be wanting to only produce in silicone at this point.

If everyone starts producing only in silicone, I’ll be out of the reborning world. I can’t afford one just for myself. China is copying in silicone now, too.

Well here is a YouTuber basically promoting that website :unamused:

I was staying out of it but I have to defend my friend. She is a Doll Collector. We are all allowed to do or buy what we want with our own money. I don’t know how many times PEOPLE have copied and stolen other peoples work in life. This is not new in the world or America. I do not buy or paint copied kits but I respect what other people want to do with their life and their money. I am also not a Bully nor am I GOD! Please do not judge her. Talk to her. She is an awesome woman. If you go on YouTube there are a lot of people that have bought Adolly Dolls. And with that being said I will be muting this as I hate that I have to defend her. @quiltsabunch not mad at you but you can send me a PM if you like as I am going to put this behind me. I know a lot of people on here are mad about this but I am not. To each his own.

But to defend someone for buying stolen sculpts would be the same as me stealing a car, and posting video about it. Then having @quiltsabunch defend me saying nobody should judge me because I have the right to spend my money however I want. :woman_shrugging:t2:
Stolen sculpts take hard earned money from the sculptors, just the same as if someone stole their car. In reality, I’m sure they would rather you steal their car. Insurance would help out then.

I don’t respect anyone who knowingly steals from hard working people.

I’m sorry but that is just not correct. This is STEALING. She is buying STOLEN art work. It’s ridiculous to defend that. You think that just because you can’t count how many times things have been stolen in this world that it’s ok to keep stealing??? Just because stealing is not “new in the world” doesn’t mean we should all just steal things  ridiculous.

I just finished watching some YouTubers reviews on them and was shocked about how they praised these knock offs!

Gross. I just can not respect someone that knowingly collects stolen sculpts. I really don’t care how “good” of a person they are. It’s wrong!

I guess muted means not following the conversation ? My thoughts are this:There are sculptors who sculpt reborn kits and artists who paint them. Some of these people do so to put food on their table. Copying these sculpts and selling them is stealing and it does hurt people because it does affect prices of reborns. And we can never compete with companies like this on price. We have a higher cost of living so it is unrealistic to expect us to do that. I guess I do not really understand how this is ok. But it is clear from this woman’s remarks in the video’s comments section that she was sent a “free” doll to promote on her channel and intends to do that. I think she should expect some negative reactions to that.

I’m not taking sides here because it’s a hot button topic but, technically, it’s the manufacturers who have done the stealing, not the buyers. I myself am on a limited budget and if I can find the same item cheaper in one place than another that’s where I buy it. I don’t particularly like it that people buy knockoffs but they do it for many things, not just reborns. For the most part people don’t mind if other people by a knockoff Gucci, Prada or Givenchy product but those designers are losing out the same way as reborn sculptors. Knockoffs of practically everything exist. I don’t have enough energy to be angry about all of it. Do I wish it were different? Absolutely. Do I think being upset will change it? Absolutely not.

Adolly sells on Amazon to. Theyve now started selling painted knock offs that aren’t the usual bright red ugly yuck (still a fake tho) as well as painted kits. :face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting:
They’re all over Mercari as well. Some have started to buy the painted ones for $75-$120 and selling them as artist painted dolls for $150-$300

Edited to add: while I don’t consider myself a bully, I also won’t support someone knowingly buying a knock off. It’s super easy to buy one not knowing, but it’s a totally different story when they not only know but praise them also.
To me, a real friend will call you on your ish. I wouldn’t sit by and not say anything to a friend who stole a car, so why would I this? So many sculpturs are wanting to quit over this, and the more they see people buying them, accepting those who do…will just be more of a slap in the face. I’m over the excuses they can’t afford a real reborn, when these are a LUXURY WANT not a need despite their helping power. Ashton Drake paradise galleries and Kinby all authentic and around the same price. When it comes to kits, BB has sales all the time. The fake kits are the same or more than the sale price. There’s plenty of ways to have a legit kit or doll if you want it bad enough. Far to many have the me me me mentality and want it NOW.
Anything worth having is worth saving for. I would much rather save my money for a quality baby than spend $100 ish on cheap fakes then complain when they don’t look like the pretty artist painted dolls which happens ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL the Time

So if I don’t go steal a car, but instead, I buy one that I know someone else stole, I’m not a thief?

All these kit producers should pay royalties (like authors or actors) to the artist for reproducing thier artwork. In high school when writing paper we always had to site out sources and credit authors we’d quoted etc. I can’t take a photo from a photographers website and have it printed just because I want it. (Can’t tell you how many people have screenshotted and printed pictures from online galleries and never ordered prints because they didn’t have time to come sit and make an order with me :woman_facepalming:t2::woman_facepalming:t2::woman_facepalming:t2::woman_facepalming:t2: Lesson learned lol no more online gallery) Same for a painting etc.

People do copy things all the time but they are obvious knock offs or reproductions and mass producing them Isn’t right to the original artist or designer.
I’m sure I have unknowingly bought a knock off of something off of AliExpress… a prop or back ground… accessory etc :flushed:

Couldn’t agree more with what she said!! No more sculpts, no more knock-offs since thieves are never original and always have to exist off the backs of others. It would stop the knock-offs, but then those of us reborn artists who care about this will have nothing to paint. It’s sad that greed and dishonesty don’t care about those things.
