Liquithin and possible painting issues

I agree with everything you say. Mine would not have cured either I don’t think. As soon as I saw it happening I scraped it all away. I just wanted to get it the heck off there and save the baby lol.

I’ve used all IRHSP to paint Elsie and I don’t really notice much difference in that and Genesis. It’s less pigmented but I just adjust for that. didn’t have any trouble mixing with Gamsol. I trust the paints but I will be erring on the side of caution with Liquithin until I understand its limits better.

I am going to try a few other kinds of paints as well. I have Genesis but like you, I like a good experiment.

I have been playing around with the BC Heatset paints this week and one of the things that she says is that it is very important to let all the pieces completely cool. So it got me to thinking about how my issues with the Liquithin arose when I went to put the eyes in from the front of the baby on a warm head so it would accept them. I was wondering if the manipulation of the warm product is why mine delaminated? So I wanted to ask you were you handling yours completely cool or warm when it happened here? I will say for future I would not put eyes in from the front when using the IRHSP line or BCPaints just to be certain. However, even when going up inside the head it is hard not to squish it some.

I think mine was completely cool when it happened. I think what happed in my case was that the creases were not completely cured with the liquithin and I added another layer (non liquithin) and baked again. Then it just became a crumbly mess. I somehow disturbed that bottom layer when it wasn’t stable yet. I don’t intend to use liquithin for creases anymore. I’m using it only in solutions where it is not the main component of the mixture- mixed in with other mediums as a smoother sealer for hands and feet, etc.

I received BC paints a few days ago. I am eager to try them so I can compare. IRHSP works fine for me other than the odd issue with Liquithin.

I will be interested to see what your comparisons are of the 2 paint systems. While the BC Paints are very pigmented, they also cure very transparent. Thus I am finding they are closer to Genesis in that regards but you also need more paint pigment maybe than one might initially think if going for more saturated cured color. I am also curious to know if they will work with the Liquithin and I have some more of that on the way to me to try.

Cool for me.

I am getting feedback from someone else that Liquithin works really well when it is thinned down with the EcoHouse Extra Mild Citrus thinner and and then paint added to it. Esther even told me herself that Ecohouse works with her Liquithin. I think the difference using it instead of Xodus Thinning is that you are not adding nearly as much oil to evaporate out of the mix. I have to play around with that myself.

oh!! that might be why it’s working for me in some places but not curing with others! I’m using a combination of LiquiThin, Xodus thinning oil, and the Citrus thinner!

Try just the Liquithin and Citrus.
