Lifelike baby

I have a lady wants a custom dolls skin to look like a baby shes seen. This babys skin looks like it had just been crying.very dark and red Im really afraid it will just look very unreal like a beet … to try and get it that dark and that red.Anyone ever done a successful baby that looks that way?

I had the same request and had to refuse the job. I will not do a custom unless I have done it before. But would like to know how to a hei e this. Thanks

Never did but looks like you may be able to achieve that redness with Crimson .
I was thinking a lot to try on a $15 newborn looking kit like Ember from BB

Many babies are that red. Mine were. But it isn’t the color we think of babies being. It would be very scary to make one this red. I admire you for attempting it and can’t wait to see the result.

I think you just have to do lots of thin layers so the baby looks …well like it has layers of skin rather than painted. Also some yellow washes should give it a more translucent look.

It looks like his little hands and arms have some purple undertones too.

Hope i can clean it off!! thought maybe id show her and then wipe it off when she sees it doesnt work…Think thats possible?
Hate to ruin how far ive gotten!
Im going to not do it this red.Only to where i feel it looks ok.because i think shed hate it REALLY this red. Some things look better as you say a more normally seen color that people are use to seeing
She brought this color up later ask could i do it I said i can try.If it isnt as she likes ill sell him to someone else. She is local so not as a huge problem as shipped.

My 2nd daughter had skin like that when she was first born  they said she had a high blood count which caused the red look…

@Rirish, OK…so first, to paint a “fresh baby”, as another forum member called that really newborn look, you must be forewarned that it is an advanced painting style and cannot easily be corrected if you go too far. Adding green or yellow to an overly red baby will only saturate the color even more, rather than balance or correct it. Does that make sense? I’m not saying not to try this color palette, but you’ll definitely want to practice on a cheaper kit(s) first, and the ladies are correct in saying you need to build up the red layers very slowly and lightly. My baby Americus that Marilyn referenced here has a myriad of colors in addition to the red tones that constitute her skin tone. The red you see is only the icing on the cake, and that’s the trick of the eye that makes my babies unique. In other words, you are not really “seeing red”, or just red alone. LOL

Here’s SERENITY THAT @Sierra made for me. Her name is not showing up- is she on here anymore? Anyway, this baby has a lot of red in her and I love it!

Maybe just extra blushing?

Edit: @LisaLynn She is gorgeous!!!

Edit again:: I do a lot of extra blushing because I think rosy babies are cute. You could tell the lady that you’ll give it a shot, but don’t know how on-point it will look. I normally do a rosy red blush, but it is hard to get down. So definitely practice on some test pieces before… oh and make sure to paint in natural light so your baby doesn’t end up looking sunburned. Haha (speaking from experience)

I believe you can do it! I think it will be tricky and need a few tries (definitely want some practice kits) but overall very possible.

Wishing you the best of luck! You go, girl!

Thanks!

Any luck with this I want to try a baby with this coloring

The kit hasnt come yet
