Has anyone else noticed that a big majority of the BB silicone babies coming out now have a mouth that has a drooping side or off downturn? While it looks like a sleep drunk baby if left alone, for the majority of us who are opening the mouth for a pacifier it is very hard to sculpt it open to where it looks natural. I find that most customers of silicone want to be able to put a pacifier in the mouth. I do not mind cutting open the silicone mouth myself but it is very frustrating not having an even opening to the orifice to work with. Is anyone else having this issue? @bbsupport is it possible to make these babies have more of a symmetrical mouth overall? I hope I am making sense… the mouth shape has put me off on buying a lot of these kits for this reason.
I haven’t done too many of them yet but I do worry about cutting the mouth when I look at some of them.
So many of them have that one side of the mouth down turned, which is a deal breaker for me if I cant open the mouth for a full pacifier!
Are they the ones whose vinyls slope too?
Yes i guess so, but i’m not sure all the silicone ones have been done in vinyl. I would have to look because I have not kept up with whether or not every silicone baby is also available in vinyl.
I don’t do silicones, but looking through all the kits, I see what you mean. It’s very obvious, and nearly all of them have it on the same side, too. It looks odd.
It does! And opening the mouth on those kits would not look good. I love several of them and would purchase them if the mouths were different.
Are they now doing the same thing with mouths that they used to do with eyes?
I am not sure if it is part of the 3D editing they are adding or the way the baby was scanned. Either way, all of them seem to be having crooked mouths these days and I do not like them. I too won’t purchase them for that reason. I do not do many vinyls here but if I were buying one it would not be one with a crooked mouth either. I love the mouths of Felicity and Darren. James has a nice mouth for cutting open it is just small so the opening is small. Sage has a nice mouth though I have not done her in silicone, only vinyl. Mitchell’s mouth opened well. I love Ruby but her mouth is crooked too so I have not gotten her in silicone. Stephen has a nice mouth.
I suspect that it’s at least partially due to another employee doing the 3D modeling now. Perhaps they aren’t as experienced at it.
They always edit the scans afterwards, so I’d assume it’s the style of the person doing the editing. They tend to have a bunch of scans per baby, it would be odd if all of them somehow have a mouth like that.
So many of these things seem “trendy” to me. When someone comes out with a reborn kit with certain characteristics and it goes over well with the "buyers’ then it seems like EVERYONE copies that feature for Way Too Long. When Levi came out with the very curled up legs every kit you saw started doing the same thing, I personally don’t care for the “copying” thing. JMO
