Let's discuss silicone blends

I got this baby Posy on a trade. I was given my choice of babies and I picked this one because I think she is very cute. I knew she was Platinum silicone and told Ecoflex 20. I have found over the years that Ecoflex 20 can vary from pour to pour. Some I have had have been nicely squishy and some not so much. Now days silicones have lots of slacker added to them to make them softer. This baby was poured in 2020-2021. She does not feel to have any slacker. Details are nicely preserved in the firmer silicones. I was told this baby sold for $800. I was thinking maybe $1399 USA shipped for the completed bald baby but I would like input from you all as to whether or not you think this is a reasonable pricing. I am still trying to determine if the firmer babies such as this bring much money. I am interested in hearing everyone’s thoughts on silicone blends in general.

On a side note, I thought about adding armatures to her arms to make them more posable but I am still not sure since her torso is firmer and her shoulders do not move much. Therefore, I am not certain an armature would work well. I would also love to hear from those who install armatures your thoughts on that.

I like the ones that aren’t super floppy/squishy. This one has a more realistic squish. I think armatures in her arms would be good for posing because they’re so straight. I think $1399 is a more than reasonable price. Probably worth more.

I did go ahead and put armatures in her arms. MUCH better. Video coming soon. I am also rethinking her pricing since I like her so much more now with the armatures. I may ask more for her and I have edited my original post since I am unsure.

Here she is with her new arms now!

I like them much better now. She’s really cute. Please post pics after she’s painted.

I prefer by far firmer silicone and a lot of people I have met and feel both (squishy and firm) prefer firmer too. I think the trend of super squishy and soft silicone will fade sooner than later. They are difficult to paint and not so realistic to hold.
I think you can rise your price, at least 1500$ but it will depend on the market, I am not sure what it looks like now, is it slow like for vinyl?

It seems like everything thing is slow in reborns in general. I think with the armatures this is a very nice baby. The only neg about her is her pour spout repair is not totally rounded smooth so leaving her bald it will still be noticed unless I can mottle it out enough to disguise it. We will have to see on that.
