@lexk It’s looking fantastic! I particularly like the mottling, the shading of the brow bone, and the gentle coloring on the eyes. One thing that really helps me keep my crease paint from pooling is to regularly use a mop brush to gently mop and blend them between layers.
I’m unsure which skin tone you’re going for, but studying up on neutralizing before you ever reach a point that you need to is super helpful. There are some very helpful posts on this forum for all sorts of stuff. We also are lucky enough to have several super talented ladies that can answer many reborn related questions you may have.
It’s great having some new blood around here. I hope you enjoy painting and decide to stick around with us.
wow thank u for the feedback @TrinityCrystal! i like all the points u made too…and thank u for the tip on creasing better. i need to work on that
honestly i have no idea about the skin tone im at loss. i want him newborn caucasian. thats the most trouble im having is complexion, paint sticking and shininess. im gonna definitely study up on neutralizing too. and yes, i appreciate the forum so much. i would not still be painting if not for bb member forum. thanks again for the welcome!
Whenever I get stuck on what colors to go for next, I matte my pieces down with a thin paste of Americana soft touch varnish, a bit of cornstarch, and water. This is something I would test on some extra pieces lying around since youre new to doll painting because it can get chalky if not careful. But doing that always helps me because the shininess is eliminated and it makes the colors I already have down pop. Your baby looks great so far!
I started rooting Landon the other night! The moahair I’m using is a bit wavy but when I first started rooting it would straighten out when I got it wet…not at all what happened! Guess he wanted to be a curly boy
