Anyone successfully bake a wrap around belly plate without it cracking?! :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

What’s your secret???

Rolled up receiving blanket is my go to. I’ve even put a polyfill stuffed body in there and wrapped the belly plate around it to bake

I did a stiffer rolled up receiving blanket… :frowning:

Now I worry about needing to bake again for varnish.

I roll washcloth or a small towel under them - so far I never had that would crack.

Every wrap around I have done has cracked. So dumb

I even baked less time to try to avoid it. It cracked in 5 places. :sob:
Thankfully I have vinyl putty. I used my heat gun to hold it in place and set it.

Then another more liberal layer of putty and a larger rolled up receiving blanket with no give. Then I used another rolled up receiving blanket in a U shape around the bottom and sides so it couldnt try to misshape itself again. Which worked.

But I cant do that with varnish involved…
I was just heat setting thinning medium in the creases and belly button.
