Also, the China kit descriptions usually start with the words soft silicone vinyl.
If you want to stop the sale call PP and tell them that you were advised the kit is a counterfeit, and ask them to stop the payment. If the kit arrives you can cut it up. Or if you wait until it gets here, and then make a PP claim on the basis the item is fake/unauthorised copy.
Oh Iām so sorry this happened to you, kissnangel. I went and looked at the auction. There is no way you would be able to buy a real Arianna for fifty dollars. This is getting so out of hand. I donāt think I will buy any kits off ebay. Iāve only ever bought one and she was from a private individual and had a certificate of authenticity so I am pretty sure sheās real. Never-the-less, I think Iāll just deal with reputable companies that I know I can trust. And how many people are now buying fake dolls reborned from these kits. Why is this happening? Itās not like this is a lucrative business. Well, maybe making and selling the kits isā¦
Oh my bad I thought it was limited lol
I went through PayPal not eBay an had no problem getting my money back. I was curious did it say it was coming from China. Mine said California. Sorry your going through this. I was so stressed out. Good luck Let me rephrase that I bought it on eBay but opened the case through PayPal!!!
I was told that some of those people up-in-arms are buying the āFridolinsā and selling them to customers(who are aware) as customs behind closed doors. They are posting outrage on the forums to throw the scent off of them. Salem witch trials, indeedā¦Please donāt let people bully and scare you when it comes to your business.
Funny smells from vinyl donāt mean anything. Some of the BB kits have been noted as having a smell and the reason why some donāt buy them. The Knox Eagles kit I am painting smells as I remove it from the oven. There have been plenty more through the years that smell, too. Most factory-produced merchandise smells. Iām not going to discard my new shower curtain, towels, car, etc., because it smells. That is insaneā¦These kits could be produced right along side of those commissioned by well-known artist. All this discrimination and stereotyping needs to stop.
Do you suppose if artists who sculpt these beautiful babies for us to ārebornā stopped making their kits Limited Editions that could possibly help the situation any? Seems like if you can NO Longer get a specific sculpt because it is sold out. that would be a good reason for the fake makers to jump on it, specially if people are clamoring for them. They are going to see MONEYMAKAERS! IDK but maybe it could help, just a thought.
Nope she was very mad in her response insisted it was not a copy. I told her it was illegal to copy someone elseās work. She sent me a very mean message saying how she Will lose a lot of money. I responded with the pics she posted of the real
Coco malu an asked if you didnāt copy this kit then why are you using Elisa Marxs pictures of her kit. And that she wouldnt of lost any money if it was as described. Then about. 10 min later she refunded my money. I did get it on eBay but open the case with PayPal. Just very glad itās over with. Iām gonna be very careful for now on girl oh an never asked for me to ship it back. I would if they wanted me too. My niece has it soaking it really has a horrible smell. None of my kits smell this bad but anyway figure I would let my niece practice on it with her hair painting. She bought the baby fx hair paints an they are air dry so no oven. Thanks an sorry to u all for my attitude I just was so upset but I do aplogize!!! Iām on my phone writing this so excuse my spelling. My eyes are getting so bad. I have a hard time seeing the letters.
Itās not necessarily sought-after kits they are targeting. There have been thousands of kits produced. Why not Saoirse, Jayden, Quinlynn, Welcome Back Taylor, etc.? This is what makes some of this a bit suspect for me. They have the same capability to acquire sculpts as anybody buying.
I would be careful of accusing a seller of illegal activity. That is slander. That is why it is important to only let the artists who have allegedly copied kits handle the situation.
I wonder ho many of the people who sculpt do it from scratch. I mean, who just takes a lump of clay (or whatever) and creates a baby? Or do they start with some doll body part for the basic shape and then create the details? How many take a cast of another kit, and then make some changes, or actually take an impressions of their own babyās feet and hands to get them started. And now with 3d printing just about anybody can scan their babyās hand or foot and make a very life like doll; I am surprised the Chinese have not done that yet.
As far as the quality of the vinyl goes, well, almost all of the kits available are made in China. The producers of these āfakesā would be very stupid if they did not use the same guidelines about ingredients as the authorized manufacturers do. If they do not, all what the aggrieved sculptor has to do is to get hold of one, send it to the appropriate authority to analyze, and some action against the manufacturer might be possible. I am sure that the Chinese authorities would clamp down on breach of safety; their whole economy depends on exports to the west. When some years back harmful product was found in pet food, people responsible were executed.
The whole reborning is based on people copying each other. And not just copying, people actually ask other artists to tell them exactly the process step by step, so they can copy them. I always thought it really funny. It does not worry me, reborning is a hobby for me, I make every doll because I enjoy the process, and I am not counting the cost or expect profit.
Iāve seen a few times where pics have been posted from the Internet that artists thought looked like a sculpt. Sometimes, the sculptor will come on the forum and admit using that pic for the model. Apparently, sometimes they use pics of people they know and some from using internet pics. A likeness to a real baby doesnāt necessary mean that it was used as a model. We all share a basic amount of facial/body features. There are several sculpts that favor each other. Iām certainly not going to accuse those artists of copying each other.
I was going to say Coco Malu wasnt a limited edition. I just recently got her for the same price the china knock off was charging. I know when I find a kit I am interested in purchasing I look for it at all places that have it in stock. I then weed out down to one place based on price and shipping.
Im sorry if i came off sounding mean. I didnt mean it that way. What i meant was thats aweful they are fooling people into thinking its a real copy by trying to sell them at that price. Because the real one can be bought for that price. I can see as a new artist and not knowing what to look for but recognizing the sculpt and thinking wow your getting a deal. Im glad you got a refund.
yes she isnāt doing wrong. the ones from China have it in small print. so if you try to get your money biack no
Itās all good like I was saying I think I was a little overwhelmed an Iām way to emotional lately. These meds my doctor put me on I feel all messed up. Have to love being a women. I should of paid more attention itās my own stupidity.
A COA isnāt hard to fake, either, if the counterfeit kit manufacturers wanted to do it.
