Kit from China! Who does it look like?

Well - as @ludmilla posted, that might not guarantee a REAL kit. Lillian Trigg has the China knock offs! http://www.lilliantrigg.com/bargain-kits01.html#.VRwNOIY8KK1

Thank you  now I wanna get the real coco malu kit. I’m gonna put it on here see if anyone has one they wanna sell maybe I will get lucky. This fake thing is going in the trash. My niece wanted to practice on it but I don’t wanna cure that vinyl it has a funny smell to it. I would hate for anyone in my house to get sick. But it’s such a cute kit I know the real coco malu must be adorable.

Dolls So Real has one advertised for $89.95.

This is the one I bought. When I realized it was a stolen kit. I stopped working on it. For all wondering, I can tell you that their vinyl is a little different. Super soft and darker in color

Yes… they have a weird smell.

I’m surprised that I haven’t seen any BB kits, as those are easier to obtain

BB kits are plentiful and priced low so there is little reason to steal them.

But… they have kits that go out of stock for awhile. They’d be able to make money off of those. So, I’m surprised they haven’t copied any.

The thing that seems to feed the fakes from China are the limited editions where there was a great demand for a sculpt and it sold out but is still wildly popular. They know that they will have a demand for it before they even start to produce them. The artist did all the promotion and advertising all they have to do is make them and sell them.

@Leslie76 - so they don’t want to pay the postage to get it back? Glad it worked out that you got a refund.

Not necessarily true. Luca is easy to find, a long with the other sculpts they’ve taken from Elly Knopps. Krista by Linda Murray? Still available to buy. Another one, (can’t for the life of me remember which kit) that I saw the other day, is equally easy to obtain. So, not necessarily true.

There is not just ā€œoneā€ reason why copies are a lucrative business for China.Who knows what goes on in their twisted brains. The Fridolin copy is selling wildly on ebay and when it comes up for bid it sells for way more than the original artists price. I am sure that access to the molds plays into which ones they make. The Chloe kit by Debbie Degraaf is a limited edition and is still available. China is selling them for less than she is asking. What happened in that case was while she had them in production, she was not happy with the color or consistency of the vinyl so they had to produce more for her that were to her approval. They took all the defective ones that were not to her standard and dumped them on the open market. Not right at all.

Yeah, I’ve seen them list a ā€œoriginal Chloeā€ for sale. It just doesn’t seem to bother them, whatsoever.

Yes I guess they really are the original Chloes…lol

Yay!!! I’m so glad it work out and I will keep my fingers crossed that you can find a REAL one with a COA this time.
Good Luck!

I thought that coco malu was a sold out limited edition?

It is LE but macpharsons an dolls so real still have a couple

Yes, but they come back again and most are as cheap as the Chinese ones, so not many people would be buying them. And I imagine BB only stops producing kits when people stop buying them, so not much point copying them. Copies of expensive kits, which cost $100 or more are another thing; the Chinese can seriously undercut the legitimate producer. And limited edition kits that sell out and people are re-selling them for triple the original price, would be well worth for them to make. Yes, Luca is still widely available, but those I reborned cost me $95 - $110 per kit (about 5 years ago), while the fakes were selling in eBay auctions for about $50 by a seller who just about based her business on them here, and then I saw them directly from china for $20 with postage less then the local seller was charging.
