Has anybody tried using resin to gloss eyes? I just watched Kim’s (Custom Doll Babies) video about it and was very interested in hearing about any ones results. Here’s the video link if you haven’t seen it.
She is on her now as well. So if you want to ask her about it? @Kim_CustomDollBaby
It looks great but is more work than the Ceramcoat. I’ll stick with that.
The Ceramcoat doesn’t cloud over time? I have really gotten concerned about using paper glaze after hearing so many negatives on here. I don’t coat my eyes often, but some babies just seem to need those wetter looking eyes and I like to trust the products I use. You’ve probably answered this question on here before, but I admit, I’m just too lazy too look, LOL. I will understand if you are just to lazy to answer me!
Helen, my Aubrey Pratt is 11 months old and her eyes are just fine.
She made an adorable Asher awake!
I seen that video and I just ordered the resin 2 days ago and got it in the mail today! I’m super excited to try this!
I have Ceramcoat that is 4 years old without any problems!
Just chiming in here. There was another discussion re the eye glaze going sticky and cloudy and thoughts that it may be Aleene’s paper glaze. I have another possible culprit which I have used on a couple of my earlier dolls (keepers).
And that is a product called ROYAL COAT Dimensional Magic. Comes in a 59ml/2fl oz bottle. I saw it recommended for spit bubbles and tried it and I notice that the mouths of the two that have it are quite sticky now. We do live in a climate of high humidity and that could possibly have some influence as well. IDK
That resin looks nice and she did a fabulous presentation! However it is more work than I have time for with my work schedule and trying to reborn on my days off. I have used the Delta Ceramcoat Gloss Varnish for years and never had any issues reported back to me from customers nor on my keeper babies here at home.
So the general concensus seems to be “No on Alenes. Yes on Ceramcoat. Resin is great for people with time on their hands.” Does anyone disagree with this summation?
Yes! That’s it! I’ve also heard about Aleene’s going cloudy over time.
What store carried Ceramcoat. I thought Michaels did but I went there this morning and they carry Folk Art and Martha Stewart stuff.
@AmyR777? Maybe Joann’s?
Is this it? I am not certain what it is so I may be wrong… lol
Yep, @jlesser, JoAnn’s carries Ceramcoat.
The one on the left is the correct one. It’s Exterior/Interior Gloss…the other two are Interior.
Thanks. I knew I had seen it somewhere. I haven’t been to JoAnns lately. I guess I need to go. I don’t want to pay shipping to order one little bottle online.
Oh, a trip to JoAnn’s!!!
I sure wish we could go together. My best friend here is one of those people who goes in, buys what she came for and leaves with the rest of her money. Where’s the fun in that, huh?
