I have several dolls for sale on eBay and have been getting some very low ball offers, one woman in particular keeps trying to buy my dolls for next to nothing! She just offered me 20.00 for a doll I am asking 150 for. I told her not to bother me again. Before this she wanted the Estelle doll I made for 50 dollars, that would not even cover the cost of the kit. I am getting fed up with eBay buyers. Anyone else have any bad experiences like this?
Yes all of the time, I’m not sure about the ladies on here with higher end dolls in the $400+ range but mine are all between 200-300 and occasionally I’ll make one in an “affordable” range of $170-190 and constantly get “what can I get for $100” or even flat out telling me "that’s too much I’ll give you 120. The best thing to do is ignore. I’m always shocked people have that nerve but they feel safe behind a computer. Most likely it’s a child that is unsupervised on the computer and will eventually get bored. Ive always wondered if those ladies with higher priced dolls get the same amount of crazy and insulting requests or if it’s cause I’m n a lower bracket so they feel like they can.
I would rather donate my dolls than to sell for practically nothing
That is terrible and discouraging…just realize you may be dealing with a child or possible as mentally challenged person…From time to time that does happen…Unfortunately people do not always monitor their children and kids get on the computer and into mischief…If it is indeed an adult…You may tell them to run down to the Good Will Thrift shops or maybe go to a jockey lot with her $20 and she might find one there in her price range…(Sorry, probably not necessary to say that though it sure does make you feel like it…lol) Seriously though, you are probably dealing with a child…$20 and $50 are large sums of money to them…lol
I had a young boy (age 6) who did buy it now of one of my auctions for his mother for her birthday…when I did not receive payment or an email within 24 hours I emailed and the mother told me what had happened…I told her no worries I would relist it and she told me no - she loved the doll and loved it even more because her son picked it for her out of all the dolls he saw and wanted to surprise her with it…so she paid for the doll cause she did not want to hurt his feelings because he was so proud buying the doll for her…lol (I know it was a surprise for her for real when she got my email…lol Bless her…what mother’s will do for their children…probably will make a cute story one day to tell the grands though…lol Gotta love 'em
I looked this person up and their feedback and she was berating other sellers that she had bought from, I don’t think they were dolls, one was and it just went on and on all she did was complain about everything she bought . I just told her not to bother me again
I’ve never been asked to sell one for pocket change. Not happening!
On ebay there is one lady that does it with every doll I have ever listed. I bet it’s the same person always offers $20-$50 I just ignore her. Heck the ebay fees alone cost more then that lol.
When I get those offers…I block that person…don’t want to take a chance on any type
of “revenge” bids :+(
I was thinking these people need to be blocked as Cherie just stated. More will come along, I’m sure, but block them each time.
@amy is it ok for me to call you? I have a question
Absolutely!
Thank you’ve I wonder that often… My prices have increased here lately as my painting improves and i get ever so slightly less than I did before. I wondered too if it was that entitlement mentality and they don’t even glance at the 400+ dolls cause they’d never be able to do it. Which for me makes it pretty miserable because I enjoy offering lower prices because when I very first started collecting didn’t know a whole lot wanted to get a doll but wasn’t sure if it would be for me and 500 was a big investment to not be sure I was so grateful when I found a shop that had affordable but nicely done dolls, I wanted to be able to give others with lower budgets a chance and often times it goes off without A hitch but soooo much in between those easy sales it’s an absolute pain in the neck!!!
When I get offers like that, I will counter-offer. After they have counter-offered very low for a second time, I counter offer higher than my last counter-offer. They will recognize that I’m not lowering and counter-offer closer to my price or go away. I have just recently dealt with that. Lady offering me $20 on two different dolls counter offering and Finally telling me $50 was all she had.
You can also set to automatically decline offers below a certain amount.
Then guess what? She can’t buy it, right?
I bet it is the same one
If the same person is keeping on doing this with your listings, it’s an easy matter to block them. No reason to have to deal with people who are wasting your time and being disrespectful or with unsupervised children who can’t legally bid online. I love the story of the mom though who wanted to pay for the BIN purchase her son made for her…what a sweet and loving person she must have been!
Is it out of line for me to ask what their user id is? I had someone offer me $20 for my Sadie and when I declined it they offered again saying “this is all I have”. Just wondering if it’s the same person.
heatherweber77 she just offered 30.00 and sent a message to me to please be nice! I blocked her
Ugh some people. I dealt with someone different but this is just ludicrous.
Thanks everyone, I am so new to this, I almost feel sorry for this person. Can she be that desperate? I blocked her so I shouldn’t hear any more from her
