Ooh I would love to be in your room. At 57, I am still a kid at heart!
A lot of men and some women âplayâ with cars and motorcycles. They donât get Flack for it. People collect and care for lots of things but doll collectors seem to get the most side eye and admonishment.
I agree with what you said. I think that woman in the video just took words âthey are not play dollsâ too literally (and frankly speaking, probably needed to make another âinterestingâ video for her âpopularâ channels).
You are brave! I canât even imagine the reaction!

I take my dolls (and some business cards) out for marketing purposes. Itâs really fun to watch peopleâs reactions. I never take them if Iâm in a hurry, though, because once people find out itâs not a real baby it takes forever to get out of the store. People want to see it, hold it and ask questions.
Omg I NEED a room like that!!
I just realized I do talk to them
bit I also talk to myself and my pets. When I was little I made up conversations, stories in my head. I donât do that lol and the ones I talk to are usually disembodied lol.
My husband did enjoy holding one while watching tv. I had to take it away from him because he got so comfortable he forgot he was holding it baby is christopher by @RosieCait
I talk to them too. And the same as you, I always talk to myself and pets, and my inside world is full of stories (I may write a book someday
)
I think the misunderstanding (and this is just my opinion) is that when an artists states this is not a doll for children, not meant for play or they are not meant to be playthings, they mean that this doll is not a toy it has not been safety tested, it is not meant to be as durable as a mainstream mass manufactured doll you might find on a Target shelf. It is mostly an issue of liability and to remind people that these are not meant for children and not meant to be handled in a rough âplayâ way. It is also meant to be a reminder that these are art dolls, they are collectable and this is part of what you are paying for and the intention of artists that make them.
I donât follow this woman on You Tube but she seems entertaining. Good on anyone who makes themselves vulnerable on You Tube, not many people get paid, if they do it isnât a lot, and it is a lot of work. There are the few that go viral, have a huge following and call it a job but most people on You Tube are just regular people sharing.
@Skylar Oh my goodness! Iâm jealous! So many gorgeous babies! Now I know how it felt to be a kid and be told âwhen we go in this store/house do not touch anything,â cause Iâd have to say that to myself walking into a room with so many babies. lol Thank you very much for sharing! You have a wonderful collection!
I want to visit all of your Play Rooms and stay in there for a few days! I have quite a few dolls and toys too. My husband and I love gadgets and the next new thing, lol.
I agree I think her video was just for attention.
Love seeing guys with dolls!
@taylorsgirl Iâm in love with your room! Oh my goodnessâŚthere needs to be something like playdates for adults. How cool would it be to be able to go and see and maybe âgentlyâ play with or hold dolls and vintage toys you never got and wanted as a kid. To me that is just as exciting going to any theme park and more awesome than a museum (since you may actually get to hold that coveted toy instead of just looking at it behind glass). Your house would be my first stopâŚI still have my (I think vinyl) hand sized Care Bears and some stuffed (of course they donât look as nice as yours). I wish I had places to display my vintage toys. You did a beautiful job setting up that room!
If you are ever in Georgia you are welcome to stop by and see it. I also have a wall of Pound Puppies in my bedroom. And I collect and repair vintage Teddy Ruxpins.
@taylorsgirl WowâŚtechnically you arenât that far from meâŚIâm in South Carolina. Weâre practically neighbors! lol I think we have the same taste in toys and probably have some of the same things (I have a Pound PuppyâŚitâs grey with black spots and black ears I think) considering weâre probably about a year or 2 apart. I think you said earlier in this post that youâre 40, I just turned 39 back in April. Too bad Covid has everything on lockdownâŚyouâve got the Holy Grail of a toy collection.
Man wish I would have kept my Teddy Ruxpin! I had the original up until I was 16âŚuntil my brotherâs friend came in my room and stepped on and broke his mouth off. He worked perfectlyâŚthen got ruined by a kid who shouldnât have been in my room to begin with.
I absolutely love toys too. Mainly dolls. Any kind of dolls, really. Have loved them since I was a little girl and now as an adult I can buy everything I always wanted.
I donât have many pictures on my phone right now, but apart from my reborns I have a large collection of Sylvanian Families (theyâre called Calico Critters in the US), several Disney Animator dolls, Barbie dolls and a whole bunch of random dolls that I just liked.
Hereâs 5 Disney Animators, a brandless doll and a journey girls doll.
My Barbie Fashionista dolls. Kinda hard to tell, but they are all special in a way. From left to right: one with birthmarks or moles in her face, a curvy one, one in a wheelchair, one with a prosthetic leg that can actually come off, one with vitiligo and lastly a bald one.
Thank you. We have so much fun with them. I also use them as a teaching tool for my 2 teenagers. So much better than an egg or bag of flour, lol!
I love your collection!
Thatâs your Happy room, only for your enjoyment.
