Has anyone given up for this reason. Its also a very expensive hobbie and because of that. I hate making mistakes
This is the 3rd or 4th post ive seen like this from you.
I mean this with nothing but love. You will not make perfect babies to start. You have to be willing to make mistakes and be willing to start over.
If you cant handle thaf then maybe reborn making isnt for you. And thatâs okay!! Thereâs no need to continue a hobby you dont enjoy.
You dont have the patience. Thats ok. Not everyone reborns. Find something else
I think from the posts you have put up you are probably right.
Maybe just be a collector. If you donât have patience this probably isnât the hobby for you.
There are so many other hobbies. Sewing. Painting. Crocheting. Diamond paintings are fun. Find what you love to do.
You absolutely do need patience, but I agree with the others above, you have to love it. If you donât then why do it? Express your creativity in a way you absolutely love! Thereâs a hobby out there for you!
This isnât for you, sis. I can see that from your posts.
Hey there, Iâve seen several posts like this from you. You seem to to be incredibly frustrated that youâre not getting the results you want instantly as a beginner. Youâre never going to achieve that. Nobody but nobody goes from beginner to expert in one go no matter what it is. You donât ride your bike down the driveway and enter the tour de France next day. You donât run a couple minutes around the garden then run a marathon. You donât screech the violin once or twice then play like youâre at the proms. It all takes time, a lot of time, a lot of practice and a lot of mistakes on the way. Nobody does anything without mistakes, as the saying goes âif youâve never made a mistake youâve never learnt anythingâ.
I donât make reborns I make plush dogs, but I use and adapt some reborning techniques that work for them. Iâve been making them since 2012 and Iâm still finding things that need improving on. Things that when I started looked ok to me but several years later did not compare to the newer ones with newer ways and methods. Last summer I redid parts I was no longer happy with. This summer I redid them again. The very first one I did I was so happy with looks nothing like the current ones and I can see many flaws and things that have seriously altered and improved. But thatâs part of practice and learning and I would never have expected to make a dog like what I do now on a first attempt. Thatâs as unrealistic as the dog was!
Itâs exactly the same with making a doll, the first one is not going to come out looking like whatâs in your mind because you have not yet got the skills needed to make it resemble that, but if you keep trying little by little it will come to you and one day it will be what you envisaged. Just not straight away.
Reborning supplies are expensive, know that from buying eyes, sealers, varnishes, paints stuffing and weighting, it ainât cheap! I know if I wanted to try reborning I would start with a cheap baby doll from somewhere like Tesco or B&M and some cheap paint just to see if I liked it and if I was likely to be any good at it. It doesnât matter if it comes off or not, it would just give an idea of itâs your cup of tea or not. If I was enjoying it then and only then would I think about getting some better quality paint and have another go. I would not go out and buy proper reborning paints and a pricey kit without having tried painting a doll cheaply first incase I didnât take to it. My very first attempt at sewing a dog shape was done with an old t shirt and a black biro to draw a pattern. Did it look right? No way - it looked terrible, but it gave me an idea of if I could make the right shape, the right proportions, sew it together etc before I bought expensive fabric.
If I did like it whether or not I was any good wouldnât matter as Iâd want to continue and would get better with time. If I didnât enjoy it however I would quit and find something else. If you donât like what you do you will never do a good job no matter how much you try because your heart and soul just isnât in it to do so. Stop and find something you do enjoy. A hobby is meant to make you feel cheerful not tearful .
Why do you keep asking this same question over and over? The answer is clear. This is not the hobby for you. Find something else. And next time you wonder, just go back and read all of these posts youâve already made instead of starting a new one. Again, the answer is clear.
I feel like a quitter though. Thats why. I also want to be proud of my artistic skills
You want to be proyd of your artistic skills? Then you have to build those skills. You have to do the work to have something to be proud of. If you arent in a place to pay your dues with not so nice dolls until you gather the skills to make beautiful babies. Then you are just going to get frustrated.
Find something else. .
Not everyone has artistic skills. No shame in that. Just like I would love to play the piano. I took lessons but got frustrated and had no patience or natural bent with it. So I pursued other things. It is time to stop lamenting over this and move on. Find something else you are good at and do love.
Itâs okay to quit doing what you arenât enjoying. There are lots and lots of artistic crafts out there that you might be really good at. Try something different and find your happy place. It doesnât seem like this is it.
Lara, Iâm sorry this hobby is so frustrating for you but as everyone has told you âtimeâ is your best teacher. If you canât really afford this hobby then maybe you should try something a little less costly. Reborning is a tedious, time consuming craft and it takes quite a while to become a skilled artist. All the ladies on our forum started out in the same boat as you and they did NOT all do a great job either. We have had many posts over the years where we have shown our First baby and our current baby------Oh my goodness, what a difference!! Everyone has come such a long way, yes some will always be better than others but you shouldnât compare yourself to others in Anything in life. You are You and we are who we are. If this is IN your heart----donât give up, if it isnâtâlet go and move on. Find something else you love and see how much more proud of yourself you are!! Good Luck.
Be proud that youâre a creative soul. Thatâs what youâve discovered â that you want to create. This was not wasted time! This could open up whole new worlds for you. Start experimenting. Find out what you really love.
Obvious to most of us that you need to find another hobby. If you want to list items for sale, you might recoup some of your moneyâŚ
Im very creative but as i have been getting older my eyesight isnt as good anymore and so i feel like im not functioning at my best.i guess i just want something i can be proud of. I know i wont be amazing at first but i dont really want to sell my dolls when they are done because of all the hassle it causes and i sort of want them to be perfect first time because of this
I want to create reborns but only for myself which is why im getting frustrated with my progress as i cant afford to keep buying kits
