I confused your channel with “a small world nursery”, but nothing to feel bad about it, I watch your channel too, and learn a lot about, all the paints and mediums available. Your knowledge on the topics are excellent and you present them in a very simple to understand for us. Thank you for your time and effort.

I love your silicones! I have yet to try my hand at silicone painting but have been wanting to get an Octavia ever since I saw a picture of her and your photo reminded me of how adorable she is. Did you buy her recently? I must admit I rarely check BB’s website any longer since I don’t need to buy any more kits but I would purchase Octavia if she became available. I’m worried that she is gone forever.

Do you neutralize bb silicones? I find the color kinda odd

If you mean neutralize as in painting over them with mint green or flesh like people used to do with vinyls, no. Understanding of the color wheel involves painting the kit with opposing colors to balance out the pink. So I use yellow, blue and/or green washes to get the color more neutral overall and then I use warm blushes and other detail colors.

Do you paint with Novacs? I think I remember you posting at one point that you used Citrus Thinner?

On silicone, yes I use NOVOCS. Citrus thinner I use with heat set paints on vinyls. I am pretty sure the oil in Citrus thinners would make them not work well in silicone but I have not tried it. Not willing to risk messing up a silicone doll.

Can someone post a link to or tell me where they get the latex free wedges?

Does silicone paint tend to take a long time to dry in latex free sponges (especially if you soak up a lot of the paint) or could it be that the sponge really has latex? @anjsmiles I’m trying the ones you posted the link to. It was curing with the lip applicators, so I’m not sure what changed other than if I got a batch that might have natural latex. Thankfully I’ve only tested the paint on the sponge first.

I always put a dollop of the mixed part A and B onto a wedge in a puddle and see if it cures. If it is a thicker puddle leave it 3 hours. If it is not cured in that time, I would leave it overnight. Make sure your room is warm. I find in winter I have to run a small space heater in my nursery room to get silicone not to take longer to cure. If it is still not cured then something in that wedge is preventing it. This is why they tell you to always test new products when they come in because unfortunately they can change ingredients over time.

I used to use the Cotton brand wedges but they have become very hard to find. I still have some left but have used this brand too. My bag of this brand is about a year old though.

Ok thank you, I haven’t checked yet this morning.
Hoping it’s cured when I go check because it would be so nice to not have to use the lip applicators, they take forever
