I had to try it once...painted hair

I decided there was no chance of me finishing rooting before I turn 80 at the pace I was going. So, I pulled out a tiny bit and turned Addison into a combi baby…here is a WIP. I just started today and this is my FIRST attempt at penciled hair.

I have this unrealistic standard in my brain that this head of hair needs to come out looking like a Linda Moore baby and well, it’s not happening. :joy: So critique away everyone! Don’t be afraid to be harsh. Lord knows I need it.

So much better than the one I recently did…I think it looks nice…but then again, I am not very qualified Izzy…!!..my painted hair turned out to be the hair for Baby Clown Kimi…lol…

Are you using pencils? I use ghsp. I like being able to change the consistency of the paint. Use the thinnest liner brush, then pluck until one-three hairs remain.
I never map out head first, just let it flow and come together to look real.

I use about 3-4 different mixture of colors for each layer too.

I like pencils better because they give me more control…the paint just kinda slips everywhere for me.

I’m getting towards the back (ignore the rooting holes). Any feedback? @specialmoments?

Haha yeah but I had planned to root the whole thing and last minute decided to combi instead. Or I would’ve switched the order lol.

I think you did a great job. The swirl is GREAT! I try to do at least 2 colors each but there’s been times where I have just black. I would try thinner lines. Was the head varnished before hand?
