I was all set to do the acrylics since I couldn’t afford a paint set yet but turns out it looked crappy. Also my paint brushes sucked. I am so bummed right now. I guess I will just wait until I can get a good set of brushes and the baby fx paint I have been eyeing. Until then I look forward to continuing to watch you ladies rock out your babies!
Hey I just started with acrylics and it takes experimenting! Let me show you!
Edit to say I’ll get some pics
Oh no!!! It’s a learning curve! Strip… And try again!
That would be great! Thank you!
Thank you I only painted actual kit with the folk art glass tile medium. Not sure if I need to take that off? My test leg looks like poop.
Ok so the top was straight acrylic mixed with matte gel, the middle is bare and the tush is what I think will work!
It’s a 25 percent water mixed with about a tablespoon of matte and premixed acrylic.
I apologize for the lighting I don’t have my natural light unpacked yet! But I feel if I keep experimenting I will find it! Just keep stripping and practicing on say a leg and do it in sections so you can see the difference.
That is what art is all about! I have not a clue what I am actually doing but the more you experiment the more you learn.
Also get some of this
If you need someone to bounce ideas off just ask, I’m experimenting right now too!
Pictures coming?! Excited too see what u did.
Yes! I apologize for it being a backside! It’s the only blank I had unpacked!
That looks really good. Maybe I got discouraged too quickly. My brushes really got me upset the most, I kept losing hairs all over the baby. What is the top picture used for?
That is do-over liquid! Haha takes the paint off so you can start again! Try rinsing and pinch drying the brushes into a paper towel to get rid of the hairs. Also cosmetic sponges really take away the brush stroke look!
Edited: I just added a second layer and a straight matte layer and I’m really liking it!
@Pitmom390 Oh good to know! Thank you!!
Thank you! @Sony72
the acrylics also strip off very well with 91 % alcohol - The trick with most acrylics is to keep the layers thin and fluid while you work them so you may also need to get a dry extender like my paints have in them as well as a sealer so they will be permanant my paints are very easy to use and dont need any pre prep or final sealers - and are alot less costly than the others with over 70 colors to choose from and a beautiful master color set Cheairdrypaint.webs.con
Ordering baby fx today! My credit cards are taking a beating lol!
I use acrylic paint without a problem. I also don’t use paint brushes much… mainly used makeup brushes and sponges.
You can also strip with vodka! Cheers!
Thank you! @cher_simnitt I think that is out of my range as a beginner. I think I will have to work up to that.
I ordered a set of makeup brushes I saw recommended in earlier posts. Fingers crossed! I think I am just so inexperienced.
Well two birds one stone! Clean my baby and calm my nerves lol!
Yum!
