My Lucy was bald, so I used her to practice doing hair with prisma pencils, let me know what you think and if I need to add anything
Very good first try! I’m no artist but I will say that the hairline looks a tad too low. Here’s an awesome tut to help you: RealReborn.com is for sale | HugeDomains Keep up the good work!
I agree with izzy, the hairline is too low, but an admirable first try. You are braver than me.
Thanks for the advice, I’ll try and see if I can remove some of it.
Maybe someone can comment on this but I think a dark wash over the hair area will help it blend better. I’m not sure I’m saying that right. The hair just seems to be a very stark contrast to the skin.
If you haven’t sealed it, Prisma will wash off with Dawn, water, and elbow grease. If you want to try again though, you may need to add a very thin layer of matte varnish over the area you washed. Keep your pencil very sharp. Do a first layer of pencil very lightly to establish the hairline and the direction of hair flow. Look at good examples the whole time you are learning, the best ones you can find! Add darker color very gradually and don’t overdo it. You can end with a painted layer. Lots of people do. I don’t, but I root over my prisma. Watch the pencils. Many of them will turn reddish when you bake. Stay away from Siennas and use true browns or umbers. I too think this was a good first try, but you need to redo it. Hair flow patterns are really important and they help define head shape. I hope you don’t think I’m being critical. I’m trying to be helpful and encouraging. It’s hard to say things without facial epressions and emoticons can only do so much.
Thanks , I appreciate the advice and help , I will work on her, and hopefully figure it out , it is harder than it looks !
That’s true, it is harder than it looks, but hard doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Challenges make us do better, so try again. The first prisma I did I had to do over three times, but in the end I loved the result. Don’t rush either. This is faster than rooting, but it’s not fast, if you know what I mean. i generally go entirely over a head three times. Oh, watch where you rest your hands on the head as you can blur the pencil if you aren’t careful. (Ask me how I know, LOL)
I was able to get the pencil off, I haven’t tempted again yet, but I will . I will study some pics . Thanks for everyone’s help😊
Also off subject for a sec. Please remember my mom, she had 60%of her pancreas taken out with a tumor and her spleen removed. She also has lupus. She’s doing ok considering but still a long road. Thanks again , I will put pics on when I’m done.
I will keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that she heals quickly. Best of luck with the hair drawing. It is hard work.
I will pray for her recovery.
I’ll pray for her.
Oh darn I realized that first link I posted doesn’t work anymore. To make up for it, here’s a few more tuts, all different methods.

This isn’t an actual tutorial but just looking at that pic you can see that realistic baby hairs follow a wave pattern.

Thank you all for advice and prayers. I managed to get the pencil off using a mr clean magic eraser😊, but haven’t attempted to redo yet. I wish I had a practice head. Anyway I’m gonna keep trying. I love rooting hair, I’m just never happy with the swirl in back, I can never seem to get it right!
Mine get better with each baby. A practice head is priceless, though.
