So I followed a video for my first reborn and it was about 10 bakes using genesis paints but do you need more layers for realism? I’ve heard some do 20 layers or more? Doesn’t the vinyl degrade?

GREAT question! I’m not sure as I use air dry but they are a lot of ladies who do and will be here shortly to answer you.

I think the number of bakes varies per reborn and as long as you let it cool completely before reheating it should be okay. Of course do it in a ventilated area or outside. Your kitchen oven is not safe.

There’s no rule as to how many layers there ‘should’ be. Just paint until you have the look you want-some take 5 layers, others can take 20.

I’ve never been able to get away with 10 bakes. More like 15-20. Varnish alone is several because I pencil hair and eyebrows and they need to be sealed and baked more than once.
