How heavy, the head?

I have the arms and legs filled to knee and elbow, with glass beads, but not sure how much to put in a preemie head?? It’s Megan kit. I’ve heard discussions about dolls being poorly weighted, so I want to get it right!

I have no idea as I haven’t done Megan yet, but I"m curious to see what others say,

I am going to wait and assemble her after I get some advice. I have body parts strewn about…ha I’m so anxious to see her assembled!

In real life Megan would weigh 3 1/2 - 4 pounds. Because the reborns feel heavier than their actual weight, I would weight her at 3 - 3 1/2 pounds. I put all the parts of the doll, the body, and the weighting materials in a bowl (except for the polyfil) and weigh it. Deduct the weight of the bowl unless it’s very lightweight. I add or remove glass beads until the whole thing is the weight I want it to be. Then I divide the glass beads into 1/4 for the limbs, 1/4 for the head and the rest in the body. I also put the completed and weighted head in the crook of my arm for a minute or two to see if it feels right.

Thanks so much…That sounds perfect

Also, put the weight into the face area. When I was a new reborner I used to weight to the back of the head because babies have such big heads. But the fact is that newborns curl forward, so you want the weight to make them “flop” forward, not backwards. When I learned that, my babies became much more cuddly and realistic feeling.

I did that, too, with my first baby…She had a pretty floppy head! I just know I didn’t have her weighted correctly. Momma didn’t care…lol (it was her Christmas present) THIS baby feels right!
