My babies are always very mottled. Which I like. But i see many babies on here that have smooth, creamy skin. How do yall manage to get the skin like that?
For smooth creamy skin, I still mottle as it adds depth but I do very very light mottling And I use thin layers to build up the complexion and pounce vigorously
I personally don’t like unmottled skin. Mottling and veins adds realism.
I love mottled babies. Everyone is different. But I wouldn’t paint or buy a doll without mottling showing.
Mottled skin is not a priority for me especially on babies of color. I like blotchy which is how my children looked as babies. Veins I can take them or leave them, doesn’t matter. I like high color babies. One day I will perfect that,
I like mottling but not so dark it looks like measles. Some of my babies are visibly mottled and some it’s very light.
I have a baby from @vcasborn and she has no mottle and she is beautiful and well done. I adore her creamy skin! I love mottle as well, but I am not against not having it.
My children did not have mottling when they were born. I don’t especially like Mottling my self or milk spots.
For the past year or so I have painted mainly older babies- not toddlers, but not newborn and I have toned down the mottle to what I used to do. It is still there, but created with a sponge that has smaller holes than what I would use for newborn and I blend more. I like the look for what I have been creating, but I like more obvious mottle too-just depends on what I want. I don’t know if this helped much, but it is what I do when I want a clearer skin that still looks realistic with dimension. Babies in my family tend to develop smooth creamy skin quickly, so to me that does look real when the right details are there.
