How do you do flesh tones?

I have waterborne air dry paints for white babys and im wondering how you put flesh layers on. Should you use a sponge with holes in for mottling or just plain sponge. Im getting confused

You can do it however you want. Are you doing primary? Or actual flesh tones. Flesh tones are typically painted on fully then pounced off. If your doing primary method, you can sponge with holes or without.

No im using premixed colours. Im not sure how i should do it

Translucent washes, I’ll actually paint it on with a fairly large paint brush, and then use either a sponge with the top ripped off or a kabuki makeup brush - or both - to blend it.

Try mottling and see how you like it. It’s my favorite step. Keep it light but you need to notice them. Build your skin tone

Here is the tutorial from Stephanie’s website (scroll down for flesh layer instructions). Lots of other Waterborne tutorials available if you scroll down to the bottom. You can bookmark the page to find it easily when painting

I almost always do lots and lots of sponge layers. I only do a wash when I want to neutralize a kit first.
