From a very experienced artist’s POV they may not want to paint an amazing baby to send off for free to a beginner and receive a less quality baby in return, ya know? That could be a reason for not many teachers wanting to sign up haha.
That’s why I thought a paint together thing would be great. Have one experienced artist walk us step by step on how they paint. We can post pictures and ask questions.
Oh my! I would love that can we trade now ? Lol
Lol I will fight ya for her!!! Lmbo ! Just kidding but that would be the greatest thing ever to have a @westernstarr baby to look at!
I think @Sony72 was saying, we would get our dolls back… With improvements and notes. I like this idea!
Trust me, IT IS!!! ️️
Yes you are SUPER lucky ! There is so much talent in this forum though - I think alot of you that are interested in bein a student are good enough to be a teacher - you included @Nikkiroc
That sounds good! I like that idea!
I don’t think we get to choose our own partner, they will be assigned. So it’s fair to everyone and people don’t fight over the same person.
Maybe this would be better as a private thing? So people can privately seek other people out one on one and that way it’s someone they get along with and they like their work. I really like the idea, just throwing more out there lol!
That is a good idea, or what about havinga tutor as you are painting a kit they can give continuous critique through the complete baby?
Great idea!
Some how or other I’m not sure this will work too well. Here’s my negativity raising it’s ugly head again. This sounds like a great idea for the “students” not so sure about the “teachers”. A lot of sending babies back and forth, painting on someone’s doll when you have no idea about color or style. Maybe you do something on someone’s doll and they don’t like what you did and think you just ruined their baby. I think If you really love the way someone paints then buy one of their dolls so you can see how they do it, use it for a tutorial!! I think we all try to help each other out as much as we can by just sharing our knowledge and looking at pictures.
Hey guys, ignore me, I’m old and not as financially sound as some of you, that’s why I don’t join in things, guess that’s MY problem. Good Luck with what ever you all decide. Starr, you are a great person, always willing to help out the next guy, I know that first hand!!
Yes, Sonja, that’s it!
The shading Sonja was referring to was “shape” the face. In this case, shading/contouring to accentuate or create features that aren’t actually there or to hide unwanted features…all with the illusion of paints.
Here is just a thought. Maybe get an experienced artist to mentor a new artist. Not send a completed baby to the new artist but instead coach them through from beginning to end via fb, messaging, email video messaging to help them achieve a beautiful baby, then have the new artist send the completed kit with a body to the experienced artist to critique it and adjust any problem areas, then the experienced artist can assemble the baby and send it home with a cute outfit for the new artist. If the experienced artist wants to add hair via rooting or painting is optional if agreed upon. That way the new artist gets their own baby they can be proud to show off. This way the new artist can begin immediately learning instead of waiting for the experienced artist to find time to make a swap baby. Just a though. Im sure more experienced artist would be more willing to join.
They had something similar on REAL a few years back, where people could make a post asking for a mentor and then an experienced artist could PM them and help them out…like a personal teacher.
I look at shading as a way to create depth and dimension. Painting creases does that But in a limited way
You might say it is like contouring with make-up.
In in my mind I had the same idea as Izzy. I am really not into swaps a whole lot but I love helping others. I like the idea of limbs or parts. Someone who wants to work that way could work together long distance. For example…I would be willing to mentor someone. I would also be willing to send, for example, two legs to Person X. One would be a limb that I painted. Via emails, messenger, etc, I would give step by step instructions. My student would send a picture each step of the way. The parts chosen could be based on an area the student wants to work on. Just another version of the idea.
