Help with AA skin tone

A woman sent me Elsie Brace to paint as a custom. She sent me a photo of the skin tone she likes. I have at least 35 layers of paint on Elsie but have yet to reach the skin tone she wants.

I am using blue, yellow ochre, red, purple, flesh 02, burnt umber and a brown that I made from red, yellow and blue because I was becoming frustrated.

Any help would be appreciated.

I’ve attached a photo of Elise and the photo of the skin tone she wants. The beautiful baby in purple is not my baby, not my photo. I apologize for not knowing who her artist is. I also added her photo next to white Jupiter just to give a better idea.

I personally would bring up the purple. You are on the right track. I actually used BBs eyelid purple on my AA babies.

I think her skin tone looks nice so far! It’s smooth.

I vote keep going. Leave the lips for last. Lean heavily on your reference picture. I think you need more red and blue but not as washes, only in some areas.

Here is one of the free tutorials which helps you see how to highlight and blush darker skin. Your final result will be different than the doll in the video.

It was developed by Margriet (Margrietsreborns), Paula (preciouslittlegemnursery) and Inaraî (Afroreborn)

I was also going to recommended Margriet! She’s a lovely lady, I recently bought one of her reborns!

Thank you. I’ve started watching it. I plan on watching the whole series. Very helpful.

I feel like before adding any purple washes you should warm her up with a reddish-pink (pink being more of the subtle hue) to get more like the photo I feel her skintone needs warmed up and purple would cool her down.

Good to know. I’ll try that. Thanks
