Need help fixing her leg. She is baked clay, not sure if it is fimo or not. Doll is 38 years old and her sculptor is no longer with us. The elastic string is bake into her leg. She has movable arms, legs and head. Have the boy, too. He is still together.

With that said - what about hollowing out the elastic area and gluing in a new one? Maybe with a Dremel?
Better than my idea to glue another piece of elastic to the broken one.

Is there enough elastic sticking out that you could sew a hook on it and connect it to the elastic still inside the doll? A doll restorer might be able to fix it but I’m sure it would cost and I’d be reluctant to leave it with anyone I didn’t know. if you can stretch the elastic inside the doll far enough to have about 1/2" (a little more would be easier to work with) sticking out, put a toothpick, or a small crochet hook if you have one, through it to keep it from snapping back inside the body. Then you can sew the 2 pieces of elastic together. I’d put some fabric glue on the stitched area to reinforce it. When you take out the toothpick it should go back in place.

Does the other leg not fall off with the broken elastic inside?
The elastic is baked into the clay leg and stretched to inside the head to a hook. Each limb is made the same. They all attach to the hook in the head.
Can you even get to the hook to secure it?
