How many times do you bake after applying the heat set matte varnish? I hear 3 X but is it necessary?

Sometimes it is but I usually at least bake twice even if I think it cured the first time, cooling in between bakes, just to be sure.
Bake at least twice for nine minutes, cooling in between. You have to assure that that varnish is solidly cured.

I always bake it three times.

I always do at least three, sometimes I do around 5 or 6 lol.

I put mine on thick for skin texturing so I bake at 250 for 14 mins (three times) letting it completely cool in between
If you gently squeeze or bend a limb and see any crusty stuff show up, it’s not cured all the way
