Heads up on new air dry varnish from MacPhersons AND MATTE POWDER

Are you using the duraclear over heat set?

She isnt on here anymore :frowning:
But she was/is an air dry artst

I think ive given up, and decided to leave the doll bald. Im not ready to try painted hair and the pencils wont show. I have the new formula americana so thats a.no go. My last option is to try the rebornfx matting powder in my heat set varnishes but i was hoping for a right now solution. I have 2 heat set varnishes that pencils wont mark on and none of the airdry varnishes i have woll work over heat set.

It might just be what you pounced your varnish with.
Ive never had an issue with prisma not writing.

I used a non dense cosmetic swispers wedge torn off, it does have a textured tiny goosebump feel to it so its not smooth really.

Have you sharpened them well?

Every few seconds. Lol ive tried dipping in thinner, not dipping, ect. Heres the texture of what im trying to draw on. It was hell getting barely lines for brows to show up but NOTHING will mark on the head. Super weird

Iā€™ve heard a lot of people having issues with prisma pencils not worrying on vinyl lately, all of them have bought their pencils in the last few years. I have no idea if they changed anything, itā€™s just odd that none of us with pencils over 5 years old have the issue. I have one tip, putting the pencils on the freezer, make sure they are very sharp. The freezer trick has worked for most of the people who have told me they had issues.

I have heard the freezer trick! Ill try it next. Its drawing fine on my practice head, although its varnished with americana cornstarch mix. Im going to try a layer of americana and then top it off with a layer of heat set varnish. I have the ihsp matte varnish coming. How did you like it?

LOVE the texture you gotā€¦.have you considered painting the hair?

I have been practicing a bit on a dummy head. I think with a lot more practice i could eventually get it, it looks as if i get it for the most part. Would just need to focus on pressure with the brush and hairlines ect. I havent tried mapping im still working on understanding that. I wanted to do combi hair on luisa. Some very light blonde pencils and then get her put together so i can finally hold her (im painting her for myself, shes the kit that started this whole journey for me) then id practive rooting on my dummy head and eventually give her a few blonde curls on top.

In short, id love to be able to do a variety. I have a long way to go lol

Just got my irresistibles matte last night, im going to varnish some practice parts and see how pencils work with it. If all else fails, ill use americana then heat set over it. Id love to be as good as your work one day.

Oh and thank you! I used the i art matte skin mixed with kebelka matte and i do really love the texture and feel! Not too shiny but i definitely want a little more matte look.

Where did DollyP go?

I am not exactly sure. She has a busy personal life, owned a business, kids, ect. So I think she had to step away from the art. I miss her being around and seeing her art work  I hope she comes back

I loved seeing her dolls in public at the hospitals etc. Makes me nostalgic for my home. :smiling_face_with_tear:

I have been wondering the same. I do sure miss her around here. Her babies were gorgeous and she was a fun person.

Yes, she was definitely talented. Seems like a lot of people disappeared past couple of years. I know I havenā€™t been very active. For me (and probably others) covid, supply shortages, knockoffs, etc. really sucked the fun out of it. Finally regaining my interest. Iā€™m not big on social media, so itā€™s nice to have a familiar place to come back to. Maybe sheā€™ll stop in one day with an update.

Yeah, I hope we can see her again sometime. Itā€™s sad to see so many donā€™t come here anymore.

Iā€™m just slowly working on kits to put together sometime in the future if/when the economy improves. It appears we are heading into a bigger recession. I donā€™t want to give up this hobby, though.
