Handmade clothing

Hope you’re on the mend soon!!

I hope you get better and heal fast! What I’m finding as I look around is that there are very few (non-fantasy) dolls in the 14-15” range and then more options starting up again at the 16.5” and 17” size. The exception being 14” Blossom by Jade Warner who I love but cannot justify $100 at MacPhersons for an unpainted clothing model. Irrestibles has her for $80 but it says she’s coming soon and I cannot place an order. So I guess I’m going to order a 10” kit and a 12” kit for now.

Omg, just saw 14” Sweet Dreams by Ruth Annette on Irrestibles, I’m in trouble now! I should just learn how to paint the itty bitty kits, they are so cute!

I think the 10-12" range and preemie would sell the best from what I’ve read over the years. The really small stuff from a store is meant for kids to play with so usually the quality of the fabric and the sewing are both not up to our standards. I also have found out the hard way that many of the 18" and even 19" dolls don’t fit newborn size clothing. Preemie stuff is hard to find! Also the styles have changed over the years with comfort in mind for styles and fabrics. Even newborn vintage style would be great. I think most collectors miss the old days of baby dresses and short suits!

I sew and crochet but have health problems so can’t imagine doing it as a business but I think that market still exists. Parents and grandparents love it for their kids too. Been making everything from calico critters size for my granddaughter (really tiny!) to 18" doll stuff for friend’s granddaughter (and sizes in between for other kids’ babies). Believe me, grandparents love it! It would be nice to have matching outfits for kid’s baby (15" bitty baby size) and adult’s baby. Wish my granddaughter liked dolls…

You are so right. I spent $20 for a mix of 10” doll clothes. Only one item barely passes the quality control. That cheap Velcro up the back is terrible too. Too expensive for just one outfit yikes.

I agree with all of you guys. What you find in stores is horribly made and not meant for reborn dolls.
I love the vintage look and the old fashion baby clothes. That’s how I dressed my girls when they were younger and the reason I learned to sew. Sewing is a lost art these days and most people appreciate handmade clothing. I know I do.
Girl stuff is easy. But boy clothing is hard to come by even in patterns. I’m not liking anything I see online. It’s all the cheap China stuff that I do not like.
If you have pictures of mini babies in cute outfits, please post them! It would be very helpful.

Thank you all for the well wishes. I am feeling much better today!!

Ahhhh! I said I am not going to do that, but you pulled me in your ‘Hand made club’.

Don’t mind Logan’s eyelashes, they are not properly trimmed yet).

That is adorable!!! Knitted? I can’t knit but wish I could.

Smaller sizes would probably sell really well. I usually make the outfits for my smaller babies because they are harder to find. I guess my style is more old fashioned also. These are 2 examples, one boy and one girl. Oh and @hyelah1990 made Caleb’s little hat.

Thank you!

I wish I could afford to get a few of the smaller kits to make crochet clothes for. For now anyone wanna grab a tape measure and get me some dementions? Waist, leg length, arm length, stuff like that?
