Yes, ceramcoat is thick and you add water. The tutorial is at the beginning of this thread but I copied it below.
My gloss varnish is thin enough to drip. Itās not watery by any means but I donāt dilute it. I have Delta Ceramcoat, Americana, and Folkart. Iām not sure what is wrong if yours is thick.
Cindy, maybe I should shake mine up a lot because it is thick and, even with water on the brush, it slowly drips off the brush.
I read a few Amazon reviews that were complaining about how thick it is. Did they change it or am I getting old supply?
Mine is in a bottle and not a jar? I do not add water to it and I donāt shake it because I donāt want it to bubble up. I use a wet brush to apply the gloss. I follow the tutorial that Amy posted above.
I have a bottle too just lIke that. Iām going to buy another one because mine is not liquid. Itās can be squeezed out of the bottle but definitely not liquid looking like the tutorial.
The way it gets thinner in the tutorial is by using a brush that has been soaking in HOT water. Having said that, I have never gotten mine to just drip off as easily as the pic suggests.
Mine is not much thicker than whipping cream. I donāt think it is as thick as Elmerās School Glue?
Mine is also thick, too thick to drip off my brush. I have some matte ceramacoat varnish as well and it is not as thick as the satin. I stirred mine gently with a long skewer and then put a few drops in my pallet and then took my brush and dipped it in water and gently stirred the varnish, did this a few times to get a bit of water mixed into it so that it would drip off my brush
I am still 2 scared to try. I sit here with savannahs poor head, eyes, new lashes and cermacoat⦠2 nervous to try. Again.
Oh, you poor thing!
You do not have to gloss the eyes!
Hi Nikki,
Like Pia saidā¦it really is not necessary to glaze the eyesā¦Before I ever started making and selling reborns myself I use to collect them. Honest truth, I bought several hundred reborn dolls from all kinds of artist from here in Oz, the USA and the UKā¦I bought from artist like Selena Saxon of Sāreal Nursery, Elna Loopstra of Angels of Delight, Precious Moments Nursery, Heavenās Touch, Bespoke, etcā¦all are well known artistā¦Melissa George of MG Dolls as well who does a lot of the protos here for BB and I will tel you that of all the dolls I ever bought, only about 20% of the artist use glaze over the whole eye. The ladies I mentioned about get $800 and up for there babies and the most expensive ones I ever bought did not have glazed eyes. Glazing the eyes is a preference and not a necessityā¦I admit that I rarely do it any more these days either unless I have an ill fitting eye or a customer request it which is rare to neverā¦I have had to repair quite a few babies over the last couple of years where ladies have emailed me and ask if I can fix the ācloudy eyesā on babies they have had for several years and it is always glaze that has gone off on these dolls - not sure what kind was used on any of them but it is a mess and most times I have to replace the eyes. You can always give the real look by just glazing thinly in the rim of the eye with a little glaze on a flibert brushā¦it saves you any mess and still gives you a nice realistic moist look around the inside of the eye rimā¦BUTā¦again it is your choice what you decide to doā¦Best of luck which ever way you goā¦
Can I just use a little glaze on the filbert to seal in the lashes? Instead of using glue? @pia I know⦠I am trying to improve my skills. I want to advance, and I do love the way the glaze makes the babies eyes look! Although, I have truly only seen pictures!
lol thanks guys for hanging in there!
Thank you sooooo sooooo much!
Thank you sooooo sooooo much!
That should be just fine! I used to use Aleeneās Paper Glaze for that. Ceramcoat should be fine. With Aleeneās, I poured a bit onto a paper towel so I cut pick up a small amout with the brush.
I just tried rooting the eyelashes with glued eyes too . Cause I put them⦠in creases⦠my goodness. So I corrected it and put them in the right place lol Well NOW I donāt know how to glue them ⦠The eyes are glued. I am thinking of doing the wet eyes with delta gloss varnish and when I will put the varnish in to gently lift the lid from the eyes so varnish touches or runs/spreads to the inside and I hope it will serve as glue. Any thoughts ? Or is there other better ways lol
The glaze will secure the lashes if you carefully apply it at the base of the lash. I do that before I trim the lashes.
Here they are trimmed.
Beautiful! Thank you so much
